ITT - fatherless white people projecting their frustration with reality

I tried to find a website for fatherless people. But instead, found one for people without mothers. I'm going to check it out. I'll let you know if it is useful.

Imagine giving this to someone as a way to let someone know you're pregnant.

[–]Neon_knucklesandwich 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

I was thinking the same thing. This seems more like a "surprise I'm pregnant!" Card.

That's funny as hell cause I bought that exact card for my dad!

Me too! He didn't think it was that funny though.

[–]pm_me_your_earhole 3ポイント4ポイント  (2子コメント)

Gave him his a week ago because I don't know how to read a calendar.

Wife bought this for her dad though I think it was a passive aggressive thing.

We're just not even disguising the racism anymore are we?

No, we're just pretending it has nothing to do with race and that anyone who notices must be racist.

It's an economic thing more than a race thing. Poor kids of all races are more likely to be raised by a single parent than middle-class kids.

Being raised by a single mother is one of the greatest predictors of growing up in poverty. If fathers (all fathers) would stick around and be a daily role model in the house for their children to see and model themselves after, then their children would be far better off in every single measurable way.

As the article says, black fathers are significantly less likely to live with their children than fathers of other races. The interesting part is why, and what can be done about it.

Welfare queens bro. That's why.

black fathers are significantly less likely to live with their children than fathers of other races.

This is a huge problem.

I'm pleasantly surprised this gets up voted. Are we finally having honest discussions reddit?

And I also read that absent father, moreso than race, is one of the most accurate indicators of children growing up to be criminals.

[–]what_comes_after_q 1ポイント2ポイント  (1子コメント)

Race and economics are tied together for cultural and historical reasons. It's like pressure and temperature, or voltage and current. One directly influences the other.

Economics influences race? Pressure and temperature are tied together for cultural and historical reasons?

Word.

But it's also a poverty thing, since Black people are more likely to be poor. I bet among wealthy, college-educated Black people living in upper-middle-class suburbs, the single-parent statistics are very different.

While it is true that for kids of all races are more likely to be raised by single parents, even if you hold income constant there are still huge race differences. While I won't argue that being a single parent doesn't make one poor, and poor society doesn't tend to produce single parents, different races are affected by poverty in vastly different ways… So it's impossible to argue that this is not a race thing.

They don't think it be like it is, but it do.

On reddit, everyone's decided they're Chris Rock and has given themselves a pass.

I decided I'm Kat Williams actually.

Would you be happier if we said Father's Day in Arkansas?

[–]Thurgood_Marshall 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

If we don't make racist jokes the terrorists win, or something.

Welcome to summerreddit

I mean AAVE is recognized as an english dialect, but then it's racist to say that there are black people who speak in this manner?

I believe s/he's saying it's racist to say generalize black people as living in the ghetto when AAVE is clearly spoken outside the ghetto. I also believe you knew that before posting and decided to anyway.

Yes. Being on the right side of history is all about walking through the world as is you had a blindfold on and earplugs in then never making a judgement about anything ever.

I'm black and this is funny.

So you're saying everyone in the ghetto that talks like this is black? That's pretty racist, you pig.

i think its more along the line of expecting people to have thicker skin about jokes and not be whiny little bitches over every single thing that someone could possibly be "offended" over

People are too god damn sensitive these days. The people getting offended most likely aren't even black.

I thought they didn't have dads in the ghetto.

Everyone is a dad in the ghetto.

Shared responsib...Bwahahahaahahaha

Your taxes let you share the responsibility.

So, in a way, we're all dads for those little bastards :') wipes tear

Once you go black, you become a single mother.

Why? Because the cops killed the father or the father left?

Some more racist bullshit being upvoted.

Dunno why you're being downvoted, it's pretty disgusting

Reddit is pretty accepting of casual racism, especially if "it's just a joke, man".

It's of course a joke. Just a joke that unfortunately has some truth behind it. Still funny though.

They have to find out they're dads first, and that's when they run away.

The card is how they tell the Maury show rejects.

Haha I got this for my boyfriend from our dogs. I was going more along the lines of speech impediment than ghetto!

Yous a dad Harry?`I'm A WHAT?

Shouldn't it just be a shrug on the inside

Holy shit it's fathers day. Where in the hell was the warning post? Thanks to OP for this. Now I can call early and look like I was all ready first thing in the morning.

I was expecting more of "happy father's day, now you just have to figure out which one is the father".

Where can we buy one of these? Or did you make it yourself?

I wasn't going to buy my dad a card at all, just a gift... I think he would find this hilarious though.

I guess, I is a Dad.

Note: Not in "the ghetto". Frankly, when I read this, the first thing I thought of was Dr. Seuss.

Pretty sure this is what a woman gives to a man when he's knocked her up.

I saw this one too in a cvs. I couldn't believe someone who's job it was to make cards came up with this... It's so bad.

LOL ... bought it for my husband who likes to call me "Oh Eloquent One" because I know some big words ... but we're not ghetto (well, maybe we are, but it's purely unintentional)

I actually bought this card for my dad lol

I bought this card for my father, it made me laugh.

I just bought this card for my dad today; I thought it was hilarious!

That's fucking stupid.

Why are people upvoting this garbage?

In Maury's voice "You are NOT the father".

What is a dad?

Who knows, I can never find the right one.

Hey! I got that exact same card for my dad for Fathers Day at Wal-Mart. I thought it was hilarious.

I think this card is a good way to tell someone you're pregnant.

This is the card I want to be given to tell me I'm going to be a father

I need to get in to this card making buisness

First of all, im surprised there is a father's day in the ghetto

That's funny I just sent this very card to my dad. I didn't even think it was ghetto. I just thought it was funny.

What is dad?

Thats a lot of cards to give out to try to find your father.

[–]Peace_Out_GirlScout 1ポイント2ポイント  (0子コメント)

I literally bought three of that exact same card and mailed them to my dad's. Fortunately none of them talk to one another.

I got the same card for my dad...

Saw this one last night, was going to buy it for my dad for Father's Day but decided it was a card for someone who just became a father. Like you give it to your brother when he has his first child. I'm probably just wrong and overthinking it.

TIL there are fathers in the ghetto

That grammar is perfect.

As someone who is excessively racist and gets quite perturbed at any English dialect other than his own, whether it be correct English or not, this would be a perfect gift for my father.

Wrong, ghettos don't have dads

You mean CVS? I saw that exact card lest week in a very affluent area

white southerners speak that way. No "ghetto" needed. =p

[–]Import 0

There aren't many fathers in the ghetto. Just baby daddies =/

Racism, hilarious. When are you going to evolve?

Just bought that....

I got this card for Father's day!

23 kids 3352 baby daddies

This racism is killing me on the inside.

I bought this for my Dad at Kroger the other day. Simple humor cards over sappy cards is the way to go, usually.

No Maury stamp of approval?

My wife bought this card for her dad. I've always thought we were a white middle class family. I guess you learn something new every day.

damnit I just went card shopping yesterday and would have bought this had I seen it.

Bought this for my dad a while ago. I'm so excited to give it to him because I KNOW he's going to expect something sappy.
