I’m not quite sure how to do submissions but I had to tell this story

So, I’m AFAB trans. I went to the campus doctor (the only one, I don’t have insurance, so also my only option) to ask about hormones. When we finally got to the topic, after. I had to spend half an hour educating about my identit, she told me I had to lose weight.

I argued, “My blood pressure, blood glucose, heart rate, all that are good. You just told me my cholesterol is a little low, if anything.” She agreed, but said I should still lose weight. I told her that other than my birth defects and disabilities, I’m healthy. She said I should exercise more. I told her that I exercise eight hours or so a week, not counting the couple miles I have to walk to and from school, and that she even just said that I was healthy.

She told me that while everything I just said was true, that my BMI isn’t in a healthy range, and once more told me to lose weight. At that point I started tearing up out of frustration, and she thankfully changed the topic.

I don’t know what I’m going to do moving forward, but I had to just put the story out there. I am completely healthy, but my BMI is above the ‘overweight’ line, so some medical professionals see nothing else.

She ended with pointing out that my weight has dropped about 20 pounds over the last year. I told her that my weight fluctuates about that much on a weekly basis, and I don’t care about the number on the scale. She didn’t like that.
