I feel like the big problem here is that they announced games that were slightly different than what people were expecting and actually wanted:

  • Metroid for Wii U -> Metroid Prime Federation Force & Blast Ball on 3DS (they're playing this on Treehouse at the time of me writing this comment. looks like a good game, but it doesn't seem like a good match with the Metroid franchise)

  • Animal Crossing U -> forgot the title, but a hybrid of Mario Party and Animal Crossing...?

  • Zelda U (though it announced it won't appear) -> TLoZ: TriForce Heroes on 3DS

  • Paper Mario U -> Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam on 3DS

  • Pokemon (saw a lot of spam in twitch chat for this) -> (non-existent)

The Animal Crossing game was such a tease! it was very upsetting for me. They know people want a new AC game but this is a slap in the face attempt to squeeze money out of the franchise without bringing anything good.

Mario party is already pretty similar and it honestly wasn't that great in itself. It looks like an amiibo buying fest with a little game tacked on.

My dog likes to turn in place and shit in a perfect circle. One day, she ate an entire can of soft food that was meant for another dog I was dogsitting. The next morning she had sprayed liquid shit in a massive circle all over my new carpet.

I would rather experience a repeat of that than never wake up from this nightmare that is the death of Metroid.

Actually that's just how reddit makes things look like whenever a portion of the community gets angry.

Just 50 people downvoting passionately on every comment that disagree makes a world of a difference.

For those who are disappointed, you guys have to remember that the goal of this Nintendo Digital Event was to showcase stuff for this year and early next year only. They said it themselves at the end.

So for example, if there was a new Mario 3D platformer, new progress of Zelda WiiU, or whatever else comes after early 2016 they'll showcase it in another Digital Event.

Another thing to remember is that Nintendo doesn't dump all of its info during E3 annually, like in the past, any longer. They have multiple Digital Events throughout the year.

I... I thought it was really cool... maybe almostasgoodaslastyear's... while they didn't announce new IPs and that game with the Metroid name slapped on seems questionable, they really did some ambitious and creative things with existing IPs this year, and it fits the theme of "transformation" they were going for in the first place.

Don't feel sorry. When a animal is misbehaving and you tell it to stop you dont reward it after words, otherwise it will continue to do bad things.
