I like that Cameron started from zero, he's not the typical guy with connection in the movie business, he's from an average middle class family, he didn't go to movie school, he's not jewish so he didn't have a preferential treatment by the studios and yet he became one of the biggest personality in the field.

He was college dropout truck driver who decided to pursue career in filmmaking after seeing Star Wars in 1977. He really started from the bottom and rose to the top.

Indian and other Asian-Americans have often complained about this aspect of Hollywood: they're not Jewish, so it is hard to get a foot in the door. Also, many of them think that Hollywood is some European stronghold of racism and typecasting, when actually Hollywood has always been a Semetic (Jewish, and therefore Arab) stronghold. Why do you think movies like Munich can be made so easily?

Cameron made his success, and others can follow.

Ashkenazi Jews (90% of American Jews) are essentially genetically European.

DNA tests indicate on average, between 40% and 60% European, IIRC. Haplotype/haplogroups between Jews and other Europeans tend to be distinctly different.

False. They are genetically Middle Eastern, hence the term "antisemetic."

If you go back far enough, everybody is genetically African.

If the Jews' couple thousand years, a hundred generations, and near-indistinguishability from "true" Europeans don't qualify them as European, then what does?

That, by the way, is overlooking a few complications that give them even more legitimacy, like religious conversions and migration and gene flow and other fun stuff.

No, they aren't. Ashkenazi may carry dna artifacts of arab jew ancestry, but since your jewiness is passed by your mother, historically there was no real pressure to marry a jewish husband. Long story short, after centuries, you wind up with tall, blond-haired, blue-eyed, aryan looking heebs like me. A lot are kind of arab looking, but a lot aren't. During WWII, it was VERY difficult to ascertain who was a jew. If ashkenazi all looked like the iron sheikh in lily white germany, this wouldn't have been a problem.

Hollywood has always been a Semetic (Jewish, and therefore Arab) stronghold.

No, Jews are not 'therefore Arab'. If Hollywood was an Arab stronghold, then you wouldn't see movies like American Snipers or Rules of Egagement where Arabs are depicted under negative roles involving insurgents, suicide bombers, hostage takers or flight hijackers.

James Cameron alpha? LOL.

This guy is famous for breaking frame all the damn time. He loses his temper and lashes out on everyone on set, on his wives, paparazzi, and even fans who want his autographs. There are even instances where he got even physical with actors, resulting in them vowing to never work with him again. This guy cannot control his emotions whatsoever and loses his cool under stress and pressure.

Dude is talented at making money, sure. But he's not alpha.

I don't know if Cameron is alpha or not, though he does seem to have some alpha tendencies.

But we should be clear about one thing: TRP is not anti-anger. Anger is a valid emotion. You just have to channel it correctly.

Anger is your instincts telling you someone is violating your personal boundaries. It can be a healthy emotion, if used in a constructive way. Don't fear your anger, listen to it.

This shit right here. Learning to analyze my own anger has been life changing. Cause of my anger? Is it the action or the motive I believe is behind the action that angers me? And so forth; very powerful way to take righteous action and command a situation.

I don't get angry. I get disappointed.

If my channeled anger netted me nine digits worth of dollars, I would be the incarnation of rage. The dictionary definition of rage would have my face on it.

[–]herpes_delivery_man 3ポイント4ポイント  (2子コメント)

I said James Cameron breaks his frame. He can't control his own temper. I didn't say anything about being anti-anger. He doesn't channel his emotions correctly. That's why his Hollywood peers make fun of him all the damn time.

And if James Cameron came here with a field report talking about how he was stressed out and lashed out at his actors, you guys will all be talking about how he broke frame and that his actions weren't "alpha".

You ever think that keeping hundreds of people scared of losing their jobs is nothing more than a power play, which is a pure alpha tactic?

He is actively dread gaming an entire set for a film. Who here can say they can do that without scaring the crap out of people consistently?

Who knows? We would have to be there to evaluate if he is a prick throwing tantrums because he does not know better or he is in control.

That definition of alpha male that doesn't include James Cameron is completely useless definition.

[–]TRP VanguardHumanSockPuppet 8

Remember, "alpha" describes behaviours, not people.

Display enough alpha behaviours and we say "he is alpha" for the sake of expedience.

There are different archetypes of alpha. And tortured tyrant/genius is absolutely one of them. I find it a little funny that Machiavelli is the standard bearer for RP. Machiavelli was not a conqueror. He was not a master of industry. He was not a doer. He was the principle adviser to the prince. 1st mate maybe, but not captain. I'm not antimachiavellian and appreciate his ability to articulate many truths, but to say James Cameron isn't alpha is just bullshit. Winning is alpha. Succeeding is alpha. Greatness is alpha. Not some 1960's spaghetti western meme.

There's a solid 80% chance this story is bullshit. Cameron is almighty in Hollywood and Hamilton would like to work again, so of course she needs to sell a narrative of their divorce which is highly flattering to Cameron.

More likely to be the truth is the mundane. "We got married because he was a powerful director and I was an actress who'd gotten bored of pretty boys, just like the other 9,999 times this has happened since 1915. We got divorced because one of us cheated and got caught, and the other couldn't stomach it."

This interview is in no way favourable to Cameron in mainstream perspective. It's only when we look at it from the TRP perspective that it looks favourable. And Linda Hamilton hasn't really had serious acting career for many years, she's probably just living with Jim's money. So I have to disagree with your theory.

Agreed.

People have to realize that the people reading and digesting this sort of shit daily (IE. middle class women) will see him as the tyrant. They need this little "drama" in their lives. They want their husbands to come home from work and then tell him "Remember James Cameron? He is sooo bad and...."

I would argue that most mainstream media coverage like this is aimed toward the above mentioned market. Most dudes are too busy watching ESPN or working later work shifts to care.

What really helped me open my heart to Jimbo was suddenly seeing him as a kid having a temper tantrum. But seeing him control everything on set was really sexy. However, what's sexy on the set is not necessarily sexy at home.'"

I'm reading this in a slightly different way. Hot guys are coconuts: hard on the outside, soft on the inside. Or in TRP lingo, looks like he failed a few comfort tests at home.
