All games, no chair.

That's actually supposed to be better for you. Forces you to activate you abdominals for support rather than letting your spine take the load.

They also poop better by squatting

I've heard that too! I try to put my weight on my heels when pooping. Not as good as actually switching my toilet out for a hole in the ground, but I like to chill and reddit on the pooper for extended time periods.

You should never sit on the toilet for more than 5 minutes. It's a great way to get hemorrhoids.

Go, shit, and then reddit on the couch or something.

Directions unclear, shat on couch

If this is true then I'm so screwed

I dont choose to shit for 5 minutes.

My hairy butt decided it was going to take 10 minutes for me.

If I shat for 5 minutes. I'd be shitting every other 5 minutes.

Sound too hard. Is there an easier way to get hemorrhoids?

Fuck it just lay in the tub and do it then rinse your shameful self off afterward

I'm more interested in the events that led you to recommending this. What level of horror have you seen that bathing in poopwater seems appropriate?

I didn't say there'd be water in the tub, I just said rinse off afterwards.

And honestly just thought of it

My brain knows that, but my ass is lazy

More water. Seriously. Just drink a few liters a day. It's better for you. Or more fiber, but if you increase the fiber you need more water to compensate anyway, otherwise it makes you gassy.

I poop when my body says to, I poop every day, and it takes me about 2 minutes from start to finish (including dropping trou but not including washing the hands, since that's longer).

I get hemorroids regularly, and this is probably one major cause (being really overweight doesn't help). But why do long commode sits cause this?

What about 45 minutes, like, once a week?

What?! $24.99? Give me two milk crates a roll of duct tape and a and 5 easy payments of $4.99 and I'll have it ready for you inside of a month.

A ...uh.. friend.. of mine just puts his feet up on the stacks of Hustler magazines around the toilet.

Thanks for the heads up homie!

[–]aperfectly_cromulent 9ポイント10ポイント  (5子コメント)

I just made one, took about half an hour with just some scrap wood. Will give it a test drive later tonight

Howard Stern talked me into that bad boy

If you go to south korea they have porcelain squat hole for this reason. North Koreans don't receive enough sustenance to produce a poop

My sister told me when she was really young that she "perches like an owl" as in, she puts her feet on the bowl and squats. Everyone started making fun of her for how weird she was but I was so proud of her for pooping right. You can bet I defended my little sister's honor to poop how she wants.

Your sister need to cut that crap out. Porcelain toilets bear weight down on the seat well enough, but if you're "perched" up there, your legs are pushing outwards on the rim almost as much as down. And after having to dig sharp toilet shards out of my drunk brother's ass, I can tell you that shit is really sharp.

This is how I poop. I started doing it spontaneously when I 14 and never looked back. I do so in my socks so I don't get the seat dirty.

You can bet I defended my little sister's honor to poop how she wants.

Can confirm. Source: I'm currently in China for work. Squat toilets everywhere, you don't get many options...

[–]Please_Label_NSFW 2ポイント3ポイント  (2子コメント)

Japan has toilets, you're thinking of China.

Tokyo and Hong Kong both have regular toilets for the most part. Only saw one squatter bathroom in HK. I think it's more common in mainland China as others mentioned.

Actually a great deal of the public restrooms in Japan are just the holes in the ground.

In houses, though, they can have some pretty amazing toilets...

Too bad you can't learn to do this later in life, you have to learn as a kid or not at all.

Source: lived in Korea for ten years, still not any better at sitting on the floor despite years of trying.

It's not good for you. Unless you like hemorrhoids. Dozens and dozens of hemorrhoids.

That may be better for working your abdominals, but there's no less force being put on the spine.

Really? I've been told it's better for your back/posterior chain. Supposedly your abs support some of the weight so your back doesn't have to work as hard.

I would say the benefit to your spine comes from the way it forces you to sit with good posture, so the force is distributed in a more anatomically favorable fashion.

it doesnt force you to sit with good posture at all, since you tend to just sit however is comfortable. (I dont use a char)

Also the butt goes numb after a while. Unless you lucky enough to got a big fat ass.

You ain't ever gon catch me sitting in no bitch ass chair

I try sitting like this, all the time. But I always end up slouching forward, all the time. I need a gaming chair

Make Nikki-chan a dull girl

Every video game, but a shortage of chairs?

Must be heaven.

Would P2 for, even with a shitty madcatz controller.

Ahh, madcatz controllers. You somehow ended up with them yet you never remember when you bought them.

Yeah seriously where did all those controllers come from

She can probably go half way and make a boyfriend in one of those games.

That's what it says in the upper-right in Japanese. That she is engrossed with her virtual boyfriend.

Also, the covered up Japanese text says: "She was bullied and told many times that she was gross."

no shut-in spends that much time indoors without getting a waifu/husbando

What anime is it?

Tried getting into WataMote about a year ago - I couldn't even make it through the first episode because of all the secondhand embarassment.

Watamote. You'll either love it because you relate to it or hate it because you relate to it. It has a ton of cringe humor, so if that's not your thing, stay away.

That's a weird way to hold a controller.

It's like learning to type without looking at a keyboard.

Wait a minute, no, I bet it's some extreme meditative form of gaming. It puts the controller out of your sight; you are no longer holding the controller. You are directly controlling the character. With years of training, she'll be able to play games just by sticking her finger into the controller port.

When was the last time you looked at the controller while gaming? I never do.

Well, uh... now the controller is out of your peripherals, too! Look down, there's no controller. Bam, psychic video game control.

I like how you just really want this to be

If you are sitting on the floor looking up at a screen with your knees up the holding the controller above your knees it is going to not only block your view but tilt you back which would become very tiring.

Hands below your knees in her position would slow arm fatigue and also help you hold your torso up.

You ever cross your legs for too long and they start to fall asleep... that's the solution

I've actually had my keyboard under a leg propped up on my desk before. It's comfortable if you get the right angle.

It's actually really nice playing like that. If I'm ont he floor I do this sometimes with less competitive games.

OMG I just tried this and this certainly beats sitting cross-legged on the floor for me. Of all the randomly useful things to learn today....

The controller has a vibrating function...which is why she holds it so

Let's reiterate the part about her not having a boyfriend.

I've gotten used to holding the controller over my head. Lots of practice thanks to my cats. Always wanting to cuddle in my lap!

gamer girl

gamer boy

Why.

He was a gamer boy

She was a gamer girl

Can I make it any more obvious?

Because they're stereotyped into those categories and that's how people generally view them as? OP commenter was just trying to say that gamers, no matter if you are a girl or a boy, act the same.

yeah, to be a gamer you need to do nothing but game :/

Right now I am a Redditor and nothing but. In a moment I shall become the very embodiment of a toast-eater, and after that? Who knows... a universe of possibilities!

You sir, Are a philosopher.

God damn elitists.

Pff you're not even a real gamer. Poser.

Why would a well-adjusted person even want to be described as a "gamer".

Just say that you "play games".

if only I got paid for it

and don't even get me started on those Scotsmen.

good for you

that's not for everyone

Yeah I love games too. But real life isn't something I want to waste.

Only person that decides that something is a "waste" is you. If I don't enjoy outside things, then those are the waste.

Couldn't agree more as someone who has suffered from depression gaming was my escape and still is. From my point of view it stopped me from doing something stupid like suicide so if anything it has given me years of "Real life"

You live your life trying to be happy and content. Do whatever it is that makes you that way as long as it doesn't hurt someone else or yourself. Could be painting, or music or playing video games. They are all valid. If life wasn't about doing what you actually wanted then what IS it for.

What is it with asian television and the reaction shots they seem to always have in the corner of the shows?

From what I can make of it, it's their extension of the laughing sfx. Tells the audience how to feel.

The media just loves showing this stuff because it makes videogames look harmful and over-protective parents are easily concerned over videogames--it makes for good sensationalism. And of course, other pastimes taken to their ultimate extremes aren't as bad. (/s)

Instead of just reporting on them, why don't we try to help people turn their passions into creative outlets that they can use to not only make a living but actually a name for themselves? Can't control your love of videogames? I say learn to make your own. Passion for most things isn't bad, it's just how you channel it. Becoming a shut-in is probably not the way, but I can't help but look at this girl and see missed potential.

I wish I could be this much of a NEET

It's great. Until depression kicks in. Then none of your games are fun anymore. But you'll still play them anyway because nothing else is fun either. And games are an easy way to pass time until you can go back to sleep.

Man what pain. I've been there, gathering the time until the next sleep because nothing else provides enjoyment.

[–]Pkmn_Trainer_Serena 5ポイント6ポイント  (1子コメント)

And then comes the crippling drug or alcohol addiction in a failing attempt to self medicate and refresh your interest in your hobby, only to end up causing financial issues along with the divorce, losing your home, half of your assets and your children.

sometimes depression kicks in before becoming a NEET, leading one to become a NEET in the first place. You can always try to drink away the part of the day you can not sleep away

[–]not_very_creative123 5ポイント6ポイント  (0子コメント)

Soon you'll be wishing you weren't that much of a NEET

Twitch or niconico needs to get at her

what is it with all of those japanese shows. Why is there always a camera directing someone's face ? Is it meant to be funny and to see the guy's reaction or something ?

i heard it's their equivalent of a gag track when i was in japan last week. Seems like it helps the audience judge what they are supposed to feel and along those lones

With the popularity of lets plays, commentaries, and the fine bros react to series... it's really just that the Japanese have been far far ahead of the curve in how they present media to people. It's literally exactly the same thing, except with a bunch of famous people and TV personalities and idols and so on. It's a staple of Japanese TV and it's slowly becoming a staple of made-for-Internet entertainment.

It's not so much about guiding emotions/expectations as it is that people enjoy seeing reactions and they also enjoy seeing interesting stuff. Why not both at the same time?

In Japanese television, the audience digests everything through a set cast (what they call TV "talent"). You see that on any type of show, even documentaries. I think most people don't feel comfortable watching shows without some semi-celebrity discussing the topics as the show is presented.

This guy is actually a famous newscaster, though: Seiji Miyane

Almost like the popularity of letsplay videos heh, but I guess they are variety programs that have guests narrating footage.

Are we really supposed to believe she bought all that stuff herself? If it's her parents making these complaints then that would be my first question, unless she's older than she looks and happens to have a job with a killer salary.

Man, even their reality TV is all fake.

Well, to be exact it's not that she can't find a boyfriend, that her games are a higher priority than socializing heh.

I remember reading somewhere that there's concern with this current generation in Japan because teenagers aren't interested in dating, and the population is expected to decline as a result.
