Just protecting his Brand

MY BRAND

These chicks don't even know the name of my BRAND

But they're all on me like they want to hold hands.

Cause once I blow they know that I'll be the man.

I'll take 19.5 if you say I didn't want a penny, my people are drawing up the NDA. Yes yes your Legal can look over the language. Now what about the cat?

"You can either take the 22m or touch my boobs one last time."

He notified her of the divorce by text and never talked to her again.

really? why?

He felt she wasn't invested in the marriage. He wanted to have children and a family but she refused to give up touring etc. They barely saw one another.

She was 25-27 and at the height of her fame when they were married. Seems like a pretty bad time to start a family.

Which is understandable, but obviously not what he was looking for, which is also understandable

BREAKING NEWS- REASONABLE PEOPLE GO THROUGH WELL PLANNED AMICABLE DIVORCE

While it was amicable, I remember reading that Perry was pretty broken up about it.

Fair enough, but he knew those things going in.

What's not understandable is that he didn't foresee this issue (or didn't think it would remain an issue) before they got married.

I think alot of what had too do with it was that Brand is a recovering alcoholic and she also wanted to party and drink all the time. It was very damaging to him.

That's what she said in her movie- I thought it was bullshit at the time, but maybe it wasn't.

that probably should have been discussed before marriage

Wait... so HE wanted to break up with HER and he was the one entitled to get stuff from her?

Holy crap.

I will never get married.

They didn't have a prenup, and he wasn't entitled to get stuff from her, he was entitled to half their joint assets, just turns out she was worth a lot more than him.

holla we want prenup

Its something that ya need to have

Cuz when she leave your ass

She gonna leave wit half

I don't think you understand how marriage works. Everything you own becomes both people's property. When you divorce, you have a case for taking half or some other percentage you agree upon or the court decides, unless there's a prenup.

Depends on state. If it's CA, then it's community property!

This is not standardized across all countries, or even all US states, though. In many states, your spouse is not entitled to any money that comes from work performed before the marriage, but half of everything obtained during the marriage. It's likely that Perry made 44 million more than Brand did during their ill-fated union.

Women initiate the majority of divorces and collect the majority of all alimony.

How about $11m and one boob?

Fine, but only the smaller boob. No negotiations.

[–]Casemods [

"Goodbye, Katherine. I don't want your money or to touch your saggy fat tits."

He's probably worth £10 million or so himself. I'm sure adding a little more than double that to your wealth would be nice but he wasn't hurting for it.

Still not willing to say most people in similar financial situations would do the same.

He also chopped off his foreskin as per her nutty Kabala rules.

Well shit. I didn't even get a chance to chop off my foreskin for 50 million pounds.

Or not. I could only find articles in gossip magazines like this one in The Daily Mail:

"Karen Berg, a spiritual adviser to Madonna, is reported to have said that Ritchie underwent the surgeon’s knife to please his then-wife, according to New York magazine."

Someone allegedly said that he did. Not exactly strong proof.

I heard Madonna still keeps his balls and foreskin in a box.

That's why sometimes divorce payouts are total nonsense.

Noone in their right mind would say "Yup that's fair"

She was worth about 600 million at the time, keep that in mind.

This definitely isn't the kind of thing a super majority of people would do, so it's worth recognition.

I would give $22 million to have those bewbs for a couple years. Well done, Russel.

They were married for 3 years so he could have earned $7.33 mil per year or $3.67 mil per year per boob. Or $2,009 per day per boob. Those were some expensive boobs.

I'm guessing he didn't marry her boobs while thinking about it as an investment. Maybe he actually liked her.

Boobs are a terrible market to invest in, they simply do not appreciate in value long-term.

True, they rapidly sag in value. They require periodic upgrades to stave off the depreciation.

Usually you are better off upgrading to a newer model as they become more high maintenance with age.

Oh don't be ridiculous.

He claims he left her because he couldn't get enough of her (scheduling issues, differences in views about children, etc...) and he didnt want the millions of dollars that he would have been entitled to for leaving her.

Normally I am cynical, but nothing here implies he married her for money (though I willing to admit he may have married her for the marketability and image changes that would come with being married to Katy, potentially increasing his own marketability as an actor).

I work for $10.25/h while this guy gets / did get / could have gotten $83.70/h 24 hrs a day to play with Katy Perry's boobs? FML

These Booba cost more an hour than a days pay for me.

[–]Casemods [

You could get a much better boob job for 22 mil

I would be happier with the copulation portion of the relationship.

[–]suggested_portion 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

For 22 million you can find some other female with amazing boobs and just close your eyes during sex and imagine KP on your 10 million yatch. Just saying...

The following quote might explain why he told her he wanted a divorce on the telephone:

“When I got divorced, I considered becoming a monk," he purportedly said. "When you’re a monk, you’re not allowed to have sex with anyone. When you’re married, it’s one person. That’s one more than a monk. It’s not that different. I’d be having sex thinking, ‘Think of anyone, anyone else.'"

He's a sex addict, but that doesn't make him a bad person. I'm sure it would make marriage difficult but that's not to say it was the reason they split up.

I'd be a sex addict, if my wife would let me.

[–]Husseini [

Or if she was Kate Perry

I myself prefer Katy Perry but I can see where you're coming from.

Why would be be wanting to think of anyone else? I don't get it.

He's a pretty decent guy. I don't wanna hear any bashing for that. It's cynical.

I think he's an insufferable prick, but yeah... fair dues to him on this point.

He gets touted as some philosophical genius who takes the piss out of Fox Corp but he sound like some man-child spouting off quips full of five-dollar words you'd find on /r/iamverysmart to me.

I never understood the argument "oh he's trying to make himself sound smarter than he actually is" but like, if he's using the word correctly he clearly is smart enough to use it. so why not? He's a stand up, his career is built on using words.

I agree. I'd also be curious to know how many people criticising Russell Brand for this, would let Stephen Fry off for the same thing?

Is having a vocabulary becoming a negative on reddit now? Watch him take down Paxman, $5 words have their uses when implemented effectively.

And to add that he is a stand up comedian. Which, for the majority of them, can think fast on their feet. So when you have the ability to speak eloquently, knowledgeable and speak on the fly you will come across as intelligent.

[–]Husseini [

Meh I'll go off and say some ppl just can't stand others being themselves. Dude talks casually (but with "fancy" words, so what?) never looking down to anyone.

And this comes from a guy who don't watch his youtube videos anymore because some things I think are just straight up bullshit. But works for many people, like did for him.

I don't think Americans have had an accurate portrayal of Brand, in the UK his image is more dated and we've come to see him in several different ways. The US on the other hand have only seen him as a blabbering idiot with a funny accent, he is hat but he's also a little bit more than that.

Going against Paxman is an achievement, that alone is worth commemorating, especially considering he amount of ammo Paxman had.

No, but he does sometimes cross that line into being superfluous with his vocabulary.

*unnecessary

I think he plays with it in a fun and interesting way. I hate anti-intellectualism, it's lazy. And I love hearing intelligent prose said in non-clipped accent.

This is the end. This is time to wake up. I remember I seen you in that program where you look at your ancestors and you saw the way your grandmother would have to brass herself or had to have got fucked over by the aristocrats who ran her gaff, and you cried because you knew that it was unfair and unjust. And that was, what was that, a century ago? That’s happening to people now. I just come from a woman who’s being treated like that. I just been talking to a woman today who’s being treated like that. So if we can engage that feeling, instead of some moment of lachrymose sentimentality trotted out on the TV for people to pore over emotional porn, if we can engage that feeling and change things, why wouldn’t we? Why is that naive? Why is that not my right because I’m an actor? I mean, I, I’ve taken the right. I don’t need the right from you. I don’t need the right from anybody. I’m taking it.

Fucking beautiful.

[–]Alequo [

Is people claiming you're something that you're not a personal character flaw? He's a comedian who tries to draw attention to things he cares about. Neither of those seem like negative qualities.

You have to do it the right way or you're not cool. You know, because demanding that someone do something positive but only in a very specific and subjectively correct way so that you can enjoy it purely as a spectator isn't pretentious as fuck.

He's quite knowledgeable about politics which is what you will hear him spouting shit about

That's classy of him.

I think he did it due to some ideological stance he has about capitalism right?

I know that his sex addiction is one of the major factors of there divorce, but I'm really curious about why there is so much animosity from Katy Perry towards Russell Brand. In multiple interviews he has said that he wishes they were still friends at least, but she has made it very clear she want's absolutely nothing to do with him. I remember during the Super Bowl he tweeted a sincere "Good Luck" to her, and her people made it very clear that she didn't appreciate him doing that and that she was offended by it.

I've always wondered if she's just broken hearted or did more happen than what we know about the divorce?

He got to fuck Katy Perry on the reg. What else do you need after that?

[–]Emperor_of_Orange [スコア非表示]  (0子コメント)

See this Ellen? This is called, "not taking someone else's money when they don't owe it to you".

Edit: Pao.

I think the guy is doing alright regardless to be honest.

[–]Reggie_Popadopoulous 2ポイント3ポイント  (1子コメント)

He's probably maintaining a certain lifestyle that some of us dream about, but his career has taken a serious downturn. Not that it's related to the divorce.

Though he's still far better off now than when he was an addict. And he knows that. So I'm sure he's grateful for what he's got.

It would have doubled his net worth, I don't think many other people turn that down.
