After some failed attempts voat announcements loaded but it was painfully slow even with the new servers. At that time the site reported around 8k people reading it. (the 'back up' announcement) It seems that the new servers are already on their knees and won't cut it. I just hope they can keep up with the demand as we need an alternative.

Personally I am not interested in 'taking back Reddit'. If they want to side with the SJWs they can stay with them on this magical special place and see where it gets them as a business.

Reddit has lost traffic since gamergate and if quantcasts estimations are reliable lost almost half of it, what they are doing right now is suicide.

Right now the deletion of FPH gets them a load of traffic, though that will not last for long. I guess they hope to get more attractive advertisement deals to make up for the loss of users.

That metric is extremely flawed, seeing as Reddit became ground zero for the Fappening, which started on September 1 and nearly tripled Reddit's traffic. There is no surge on that graph.

Voat will need serious advertising revenue to pay for the servers to run a service 1/10th as big as Reddit. Then factor in the administrative and coding talent it will need to keep up with the demand, it will not be a likely success in the short period of time that demand happened.

That being written, I hope the college grad running Voat can pull out a coup and get his servers up and running. If there could be enough of an exodus from Reddit to actually decrease their monthly active user count, it could be enough to get Pao out. Its pretty obvious that Steve Huffman is for censorship and Alexis Ohanian was not. Unfortunately, Alexis ended his life and Reddit bought Huffman back. So now Reddit has got a corporate culture that is going to shit very quickly.

The problem is though the SJWs are pretty deep embedded in reddit at this point. Investors aside we have to deal with a CEO and most likely a management staff that have a higher value of corporate values than maintaining an open discussion environment. Would have to clean house in most parts of reddit that have oversight of the site and if that were to succeed it probably already killed the funding for reddit and possibly making it go bankrupt.

Assuming people actually stay till everything went down.
