As much fun as it has been, I regret to say I can no longer participate in this sub. This isn't a decision I arrived at lightly, but given certain statements made by an individual, I no longer feel that this is the safe place we all want it to be. And to make matters worse, very few people called them out on it.

I've met some really awesome, genuine people here. And I wish you all the best. Maybe I'll pop in sometime in the future if something earth-shattering happens or whatnot.

Take care of yourselves and stay safe.

EDIT: Thank you for your kind words. I ask though, that no one speculate about what I'm talking about, especially because I heeded the advice of someone down below and a mod. I know that's weird, given that I've left out details, but please know that it's being addressed.

It's about this thread, right? Boogie posted about this thread and his followers votespammed the shit out of the whole thing. It was a dick move and boogie should be banned for it.

To be fair the original title of the thread was mean and unnecessary (https://twitter.com/Boogie2988/status/608925300479655936), but it looks like the mods made the OP remake the thread it to something more civil.

His users still votespammed the new thread though, upvoting all of boogie's posts and heavily down voting dissenters.

That's what I could piece together at least.

Wow, I never even saw that title. Fucking hell. Of course, only one of the gators rushing to condemn Ghazi acknowledge the mods took the thread down pretty quick. Gives 'em nice ammo to continue portraying Ghazi as a horrible place.

He doesn't not like this sub and thinks a shitty place to voice alternative opinions or have and legitimate discussion. I like it here, but I don't think he is wrong. Some folks are pretty dogpiley here and get carried away. And one of the ways they got carried away is by going after him when some people didn't like something he tweeted.

This was back in the day when TB had a lot of threads and there was a lot more focus on specific gators. The mods cut down on that a lot since.

He is a really progressive guy. Just don't like his tweets to fans posted here and being called out for being "problematic". Call out culture sucks ass. I can't blame him. I wouldn't want people waiting for me to say something they don't approve of on twitter either.

yes, ghazi isn't the place to voice alternative opinions and debate about GG; we're pretty explicit about that, even though we've allowed multiple gaters to be part of this community because they weren't complete asshats and didn't voice their alternative opinions by using slurs or obscenities.

but forgive me if I'm wary of what someone who I know next to nothing about accuses us of being bad people.

It was several months ago when TB had a thread every couple of days. I'm sure you can find it if you want. People called him out because they didn't like his tweets and he came here and explained himself. He hasn't liked the sub since because he doesnt like people watching publicly judging him. The sub has changed since then.

Sorry if you don't like what he thinks about the sub, but I'm just relaying what he has said previously. If you really want answers, just tweet at him and ask. He will likely answer, he's a pretty sweet guy.

you know, I just wrote a long response to this but it's not worth it. I tweeted the user, I think they're being incredibly unfair considering what we mods have done to acquiesce to their demands, and I'm not really that interested in bowing down to kiss the feet of every twitter user that is upset they tweeted something stupid and were asked to clarify.

To be honest, you and I have done this dance before. You are super over aggressive any time someone says something mildly negative about this sub. I don't know why that is, but I didn't do anything to you.

Sorry it displeases you, but some people were dicks to him in this sub, he felt he was quoted out of context and he thinks people who hang out here are bullies. Since he is one of the hosts of the jimquisition podcast, which is a supporter of all things progressive I would think the mods would want to changes Gravs opinion. But that's not my call.

The /u/miracleofsound situation was something we dealt with when it happened. There was a particular user who stalked and had a vendetta against them, and we got rid of that user once we saw it happen.

On top of that, a lot of users in the threads at that time were supportive of /u/miracleofsound and called out the person who had that vendetta.

The reason I get overly aggressive is because most of the time these charges are leveled at ghazi, they're done so either without reaching out to us first so we mods can see what's happening, or they're inflating what happened to be much bigger or have much more support than it really did.

We mods do a lot of work to try and make this sub a good place. Yes, we don't always see everything right away because it's impossible to monitor every thread every moment of every day, and we still have trouble with users not reporting things that should be handled by a moderator.

But no matter how much effort we put in, we still run into situations where someone takes to Twitter to say we're doing something bad and we aren't notified this bad stuff is happening or we investigate and the bad stuff is from one or two users who the rest of ghazi has told to cut it out.

There are criticisms of the sub I've agreed with and had no trouble working to resolve. But then there are criticisms that get extremely vague and unhelpful which get bandwagoned with nobody wanting to expand or clarify or help us help them whatsoever.

/u/miracleofsound's criticism of "fuck ghazi" feels that way because the last thread about them was made by them and they got tons of support from ghazi users while we took care of users who crossed lines.

We can't change everyone's opinion, and I am personally not interested in changing someone's opinion when they choose to be vague, inflate things, and carry on that opinion after we've already taken actions to resolve the problems they have.

Thats nice to know. I did not know the folks with a problem with Grav were booted. If someone asks again, I'll say that. I just didn't agree with the argument that Grav is anti SJW just because he doesn't like the sub.

He doesn't like labels and call out culture. He is very progressive, but he is a white dude who is feed up with be called a "bad ally" when he has a different opinion(that he voices on twitter, not to someone). As someone from the same group, I understand the appeal of just not being involve. There are some folks who are just waiting to jump downs someone's throat.

He is a really nice guy and will chat with anyone, just don't do t jump into his mentions for no reason. And he doesn't like this sub because people posted that was out of context in his opinion out of context and ass holes abused him.

I'm a little lost, to be honest. Which comment was it? There were people arguing with boogie for a long time regarding that blog post. And I'm sorry to see anyone leave, or feel like this isn't a cool space, but damn, maybe let us know what's wrong specifically so that it can be fixed, or at least avoided. The details of this are so vague, we can't do anything with them. Call someone out on their statements? Sure, if I see them. I don't live on here, though.

there were a couple reasons the initial thread was taken down. and Boogie's actions of posting a screenshot of a removed thread with the full knowledge that his followers would show up here is extremely disappointing to me.

/u/uberwolf0 didn't respond to me when I pointed this out to them, either. the funny part is that he even said in that thread that he doesn't like "gamers being labeled as shitlords" and that "naming and shaming won't follow anything" as though he didn't engage in "naming and shaming" the OP of that thread and as though anyone seriously involved in any of these conversations is calling all gamers "shitlords".

That original title is some insipid, overaggressive bullshit. Boogie's clarification is kinda crap, though. His, like, umpteenth time clarifying. I just don't think he's very good at what he's doing when it comes to stuff like this. He's trying to toe some line, but he ends up tapdancing back and forth across it so much that it's hard to tell what he's trying to say, if it's even anything at all.

If this is regarding the Boogie thread as some have suggested, that sucks. I certainly questioned his response and did not appreciate how many of his fans brigaded the thread. Unfortunately, this place is still a sub on Reddit, and random folks will come in at times and make things more difficult. And if it's regarding something else, I hope the mods do take care of it.
