What the hell? Have been watching the fire rise in all corners of this site, people plugging voat getting tons of exposure and their servers can't handle the load? This is the moment they've been waiting for and the ball is too big for their mitt, man.

Smart people know that prayer doesn't pay the bills. Every site has to manage operating costs against potential profitability. If they'd known that Reddit was going to shit the bed on this specific day, they could have taken the short-term hit to get better servers, but they couldn't have known.

  • when voat adjusts for the load, migrate there

  • use adblock edge on reddit, do not purchase reddit services

Well it's not like it has a big budget for servers or anything, plus it has a super small development team.

If I recall correctly, Voat is basically one guy, Atko and a few helpers, but Atko has been on vacation.

Also, last I knew they don't run ads on Voat so everything is out of pocket and runs on donations as is mentioned in this thread:
