It would appear that the sub is indeed about actual whale watching. It got brigaded by some unsavoury members who posted/upvoted these pics and the lax moderation (which made this attack possible) has now been stepped up. This is evidenced in the archive linked. You can click on the links lower than #5 and it will show whale-watching links

On the current status of whalewatching:
They made a bunch of legit-seeming posts and are now trying to claim the brigading came from us, SRS and AMR. Also, they specifically name /u/IrbyTremor and /u/C0NFLICT0fC0L0URS as their supposed brigaders.
In addition, they seem to have moved to /r/drawpeople, which is the most pathetic thing I have seen in my entire life.

It was a dead sub, but it was legitimately about whale watching. Which is kind of boring anyway.

      I did, I noticed. Unfortunately, for sleeping or dead subs that are hardly used that can be confused with other larger subs, having literally hundreds of members storming your subreddit is a problem. Banning them and taking down all the links would be a serious feat for such a sub to do.
