My understanding from reading up on them a bit is that Ellen and her husband are indeed all about that money. I've only been able to verify some of this, so someone please chime in if there are corrections to be made here:

1) She seems to have had affairs to sleep her way to the top at her previous employer.

2) When she saw that she wasn't sleeping her way to the top 'fast enough,' and they eventually fired her (because word on the street is that she's a terrible terrible person to work with) it seems she sued her employer for sexual harassment.

3) She lost that lawsuit because, in keeping with a theme here, the lawsuit was a bullshit effort to scam money.

4) Pao's husband ran a failed illegal ponzi scheme. That scheme collapsed and he walked away with countless people's life savings, because his entire scheme was a bullshit effort to scam money.

5) Pao's husband also bought 3 apartments in a fashionable apartment building. The building saw that his income looked a bit questionable, and they refused to sell him a 4th apartment.

6) Even though they let him buy 3 apartments in their building, Pao's husband sued them for racial discrimination (seriously). "You hate me because I'm black (even though you sold three apartments to me)!"

7) Her husband's racial discrimination lawsuit failed, because it was just another crooked scheme and essentially a bullshit effort to scam money.

8) Her husband refuses to pay the lawyers that keep him out of jail, because his whole life is a bullshit effort to scam money.

These people are Silicon Valley grifters, plain and simple. Everything they do is (repeat after me...) a bullshit effort to scam money.
