No one it's a spite campaign by plebbit shills and/or I suspect that the guilding system itself may be nothing but a front at this point and most guilding is just some money funneling operation by some umbrella corp owned by plebbit, and it just auto guilds anyone saying to stop buying reddit gold (test).

Sure I think that some plebbit shills guilding out of spite, whether they are actually donations or not is the most likely scenario, but it doesn't preclude the less likely scenario.

I don't understand the consumer-side benefit to reddit gold.

I mean, I get it enriches Conde-Naste and allows a level of propaganda management, but from a user level reddit gold is pointless because RES exists.
