I agree, but it's much sadder when it's unexpected and undeserved versus someone who ignores every medical professional and believes that being fat doesn't have any health detriments; especially if they try and peddle that bullshit to others. Holy shit. The only one of these I knew existed was /r/watchpeopledie but just looking at a couple of those for a few seconds makes me sick. If admins are going to ban the subs they just banned then these NEED to absolutely 100% go as well. I will admit that I don't care that those subs got banned because, well, I simply just don't care about them or agree with them at all so it doesn't affect me in any way. But these, the ones you listed, are absolutely terrible and need to go according to "admin logic". Hell, even give users the ones back that they banned and take these instead for all I care. But TAKE THESE DOWN.

      FPH had a rule that you could not under any circumstances link to other parts of reddit. If you submitted a linked post it would be removed immediately. As a long time subscriber I never even once saw a post that was a link to reddit. The mod team regularly reminded people that such behavior would result in a ban.

      FPH did not brigade or harass specific users. It only existed to make fun of fat people. Any images posted there were found on the internet. Which is exactly the same as every other sub focused around poking fun at others.

      Sure FPH loves to hate on Tess and others like her. She is a public figure, she was recently on the cover of a magazine. Reddit harasses public figures they don't like all the time.

      The only thing FPH is guilty of is making fat people feel bad about themselves. Which they should.

      Me too! I was 135-140lbs browsing that sub, and now I'm down to 125! My boyfriend was at 200, and now down to 170! Yeah, /r/loseit, and /r/fitness is great, but it wasn't the motivation that we needed, oddly.         As previously mentioned by other users, the fact that reddit has the audacity to ban this sub, while maintaining that such subs as /r/CoonTown and /r/GasTheKikes are perfectly acceptable, just makes reddit look bad in-general. A lot of users, no matter what subs they frequent, will probably just stop using reddit altogether when they start seeing this kind of B.S. That's gonna be fantastic news for any/all similar competing websites.

        Just think of the headlines... "Reddit.com selectively censors and bans the sub /r/fatpeoplehate, but perfectly-willing to host the subs /r/CoonTown and /r/GasTheKikes". People will quit reddit, potential new users will decide not to join, Investors are gonna panic like crazy and pull out, advertisers are going to pull out, and reddit.com will become a laughing stock of the internet for wasting their company and letting a competing site rise overtake it due to their own stupidity.

        Personally, I really do not care if the Reddit admins want to run Reddit, it's their site and they and make their choices. If they want to do censorship and make Reddit 'Safer', so be it.

        It's the approach to this I have an issue with.

        You cannot put an up an announcement with the rule changes, talking about harassment and safety, and only ban 5 measly subreddits.

        Let's be real, there are tons of subreddits some of which are more popular than FPH and much more abusive (in terms of harassment) than FPH that are around.

        This was so poorly executed the admins made the backlash 100x worse than it could have been. And they basically asked for a ton of personal attacks on them by having the first and only major one be FPH, TiA would have been another one that would have caused a major backlash.

        We cannot have our speech limited by what the views of the owners of the site. To me, reddit is a community, not a website. The website itself is simple, a million other companies could reproduce it. But we chose reddit.com to "govern" us. As such, the community should have implied rights. I believe that being (relatively) uncensored is one of those rights. In cases like this, it is a censorship to the community that impedes on it's rights. Who's with me on this?

        I'm actually pretty certain it's because posts on FPH frequently made it to the front page while from all these other subreddits people are posting asking "WHY ARENT THESE BANNED? THEYRE WORSE THAN FPH WAS!" never, I repeat, never make it to the front page.

        I still think all hate-subreddits should be banned but that's a personal opinion.

          There are many, many more subreddits that need to be banned. For instance, /r/tumblrinaction may not be on the same level, but it frequently harasses and brigades Tumblr. That type of harassment shouldn't be tolerated. Plus the subreddit exclusively makes fun of minorities, women, and actual oppression. The things said are horrible and I'm sure they brigade because it is well know many users were on /r/fatpeoplehate.

          This sort of censorship is setting the precedent for Reddit going forward. Reddit has outgrown its Internet shoes and now being politically correct (read: catering to butthurt fat fee-fees) has taken precedence over the freedom of speech. This glaring example of cognitive dissonance should illustrate the collective brain power of the Reddit admin teams. Banning /r/fatpeoplehate and continuing to allow /r/askHAES along with a slew of other subreddits that directly promote physically unhealthy lifestyles, subs that promote violent depictions of minorities dying (/r/WatchNiggersDie), and subreddits that depict gore and violence against animals (/r/HurtingAnimals) is a glaring indictment of the reality that admins are just bowing to angry fatties who got their feelings hurt.
