how does blockstream make money?

Community responses:

they used ~50% of their venture capital to buy BTC and are hoping that their actions cause the price to rise significantly.

the community will praise them just like the core devs of Bitcoin are respected and get paid

Once companies understand the potential of sidechains, Blockstream will be able to earn revenue through consulting services

Not surprising he is suggesting their sole source of revenue is a pump and dump. Even less surprising he's getting upvoted it.

VC investors generally don't want the company to use their money to invest in something else. If they wanted to make money from eventual BTC price increase, they would do it themselves, or hire experienced traders. They would not give their money to a bunch of nerds to play Monopoly with.
