First off thanks for serving. Hope all is well since your time in Iraq, have a lot of friends where that's not the case.

Anyhow, I don't think we can really call him a pussy or a coward for this. One shouldn't be forced to serve in a military. There's to many variables, what if he doesn't support the current government ect?

The line of being a coward goes both ways, have friends in my area of study who remember being spit on and called cowards/baby killers coming back from Vietnam. People who served in Nazi Germany hid that fact for years after in many cases.

Also, "this generation" is odd thing to say. People have defected/Dodged draft since the beginning of war and will do so in the future.

There's no dishonor in not fighting for a cause you don't believe in. I live in the US I'd still not want to support something I don't believe in like Iraq, where I wouldn't be defending my families freedom at all and just fighting for political and economic goals the government has that I personally wouldn't view worth joining for.

I have a lot of experience dealing with veterans as I'm working on my military history masters. However, while I know quite a bit about war, I know nothing experiencing it as I have never been in a combat zone.

I have seen first hand how it affects people I interview and I'm glad there are people like yourself that serve our country, I however would have to seriously consider the reasons behind my conscription, actual physical threat to my family and country freedoms I'm on board and would probably volunteer. However, some skewed perceived threat that more so resembles geopolitical/economical goals I'm out.

The problem here is it ruins his life, he'll go from making more than doctors in his country to having to probably get a real job that is on average 5k-9k a year where he lives.

Again though thank you for your service.

I respect your post more than my own. Have a good day and appreciate your thought out response. I have suffered from PTSD for many years. Wouldn't trade it though, enjoyed my time in the military. Loved my job. Keep up the good work friend

Yeah, because this is the only generation to have kids fleeing for their lives from a war they know nothing about. You weren't alive for Vietnam. You don't know what the fuck you're talking about.

Yeah, well I was alive to fight in Iraq, and my grandfather fought in the battle of Khe sanh. You don't know what the fuck you're talking about bitch tits.

n't have a fucking clue what war is like. You assume I don't know what i'm talking about and assumptions make an ass out of yourself. I know the cost of war heavily as does my family. However we have fought since the dawn of time. There will always be war. I'm a realist, not a pussy.

You are just disgusting.... he doesn't owe anything to his country.

Actually yes the fuck you do. When you sign up for your license you sign up for the Selective Service Act. If you don't want to protect your country, don't sign up. Remember JFK? Do not ask what your country can do for you, ask what can you do for your country. Quit acting like you don't owe shit. You have to pull your own weight.

[–]RyulightorbRSN: Gillinor -1

I do pull my own weight for me and me alone i will never fight to fuel a slaughter it is against my ideals i would rather rot in a cell then be fuel to the fire.

They have no right to force him to join.

Do you NOT FUCKING UNDERSTAND THE SELECTIVE SERVICE ACT? You have a choice. You can choose not to sign it, good luck getting your license, a loan, anything. You live here, you defend it when called. That's the bottom line.

[–]RyulightorbRSN: Gillinor -2

Uh he is being forced to join or goto jail that's not a choice that is barbaric.

Don't like it, save up move to another country. You have a choice. Just like you have freedoms, people have freedoms to call you a coward.

[–]RyulightorbRSN: Gillinor 0

I will not fight for any country.

People can call me a coward but a man who does not follow his ideals is no man at all.

I will fight for myself and my friends only i will not kill or help kill others unless they personally come at me to kill me i have no issue with them.

You were probably downvoted to oblivion because of your wordings, but otherwise I would agree with you that young people these days tend to take things for granted. They think that mandatory NS puts their life at risk and that they would be sacrificed in combat which is a completely wrong idea.
