It's not that good where I live. It used to be, but it's like they sped up the conveyor belt in the over and now it doesn't ever get crispy. It's just limp. :(

At Alaskan Costcos, the pizza is execrable. I hear such rave reviews of Costco pizza from the lower 48, it makes me almost think they're using a different recipe. The sauce up here is so sweet, it's almost like ketchup.

Right? It reminds me of the sauce they put on canned kid's pasta, like spaghetti-o's. And the crust is like white sandwich bread. I just don't have any desire to eat that kind of kid's stuff.

Right now this post is at 450+, and most homemade/artisan pizzas on the /r/pizza front page are at less than 10. I think a lot of people have been raised eating Costco/Domino's/Pizza Hut, and while it's obviously comfort food, it's also all they know.

I'll throw a couple pieces in a large skillet over high heat with just a couple beads of olive oil. After about 3-4minutes, they come out with a nice crispy bottom and the cheese gets a little more gooey. I think it's perfect.

It looks like its moving at the same speed so I am not certain. It looks like the sauce spread gets thinner as it moves toward the middle, so maybe the thing giving it pressure to push the sauce through lessens as it goes farther? I really have no idea

Yeah, when I joined I assumed it was people that loved pizza like I love pizza. Yeah, I love nepolitan, and New York, and American chewy style (like papa johns, dominos but generally better quality), cheap Costco and Sam's pizza. Hell, if Im desperate for pizza, I'll eat a friggin' pepperoni hotpocket. You don't have to like the same styles I do, but I would assume a general love of pizza.

If you only like a certain style of pizza and can't at least appreciate if not like other styles, then maybe you should make your own /r/pizzaexactlylikemichelangeloatewhilepaintingthesistinechapel and hate on other styles there.

I would also appreciate it if people would stop hating on nice users that offer easy to start with recipes like Alton Brown's because they're not traditional to wood-fired fancy pizza and use a little bit of sugar to help with browning (OMG!). Dude just wants to learn how to make pizza at home and needs something easy to use to start with. Hell I suggest buying dough to start with if you can so you can learn what it should feel like. It's all good, that's how you learn. The first pizza I made in my life? Holy hell did it suck.

Edited to add I forgot to mention I even like the evil Chicago deep-dish style and it's totally cool if you don't. It's not like traditional pizza, but damn do I like it. Flaky crust, a thick layer of cheese and toppings, yummy chunks of tomato, good stuff.

My mom would always drag me on errands as a little kid and she always went to Costco to shop and she always got me a slushee and a sloce of pizza and I can easily say that that is why those two things are some of my comfort/favorite foods today.

Nah, a slushy is a cola drink served near frozen, with a mixer keeping the temperature below freezing without actually freezing it into a block. It's slushy because it freezes just a little bit. 👍

At the original Price Club in San Diego (eventually merged with Costco) when they first started selling pizza in the 1980s they would fly the dough in from New York each day. Obviously this became untenable as the chain grew in size so they developed their own crust. The original New York crust was way better than the limp bread they serve now.
