Ten Walls just became the Chick-Fil-A of house DJs.

And unfortunately for him the conservative crowd and the house music crowd really don't intersect.

And unfortunately for him, the lgbt crowd and the electronic music crowd do.

I love after committing career suicide he does such a lacklustre scripted PR apology that clearly doesn't represent his views, as if the apology would fool anyone. Did he not know that Dance music has its roots laid within the gay and minority communities? Esepecially house music. What an idiot.

Also someone has changed his discogs pic as well http://www.discogs.com/artist/3317864-Ten-Walls. NSFW!!

edit: Creamfields and Pitch Festival have both dropped him off their lineups. I imagine more will follow.

Lithuanian being against homosexuals. I would of never guessed.

I feel very ashamed about the homophobic situation in Lithuania, but I would like to clarify a few points.

A lot of people in Lithuania and not only a Russian speaking minority is watching Russian TV channels and movies in the cinemas constantly. 63% people in Lithuania speak Russian language. As you can see that this ignorant prick doesn't even understand that there is a difference between homosexuals and pedophiles. The same message is constantly broadcasted in Russia. And unfortunately gay people haters in Lithuania usually don't know the difference. So Russia is brainwashing us and since our media is not very powerful (or usually even very professional), we are loosing the informational war also in this field.

I wasn't able to find any survey data, but I get a feeling that usually the haters are without a university degree. They are working class heroes with huge education gaps who tend to believe that the more you hate gay people and pedophiles the stronger man you become.

This is a very good lesson and we clearly need more of them. I hope that it will trigger a huge public discussion and one day we will overcome this national ignorance.

My ex-partner, who I still live with while she gets a new place sorted, is Lithuanian, and her family just visited this weekend - one of the first things she said when I saw her today was how she couldn't believe how homophobic her dad still is. Its really ingrained in a lot of Eastern European mindsets, and as you say, when major media institutions spread fear and disinformation it just makes it even harder to tackle.

I don't think this has anything to do with Russia. Or at least not anymore. We're getting more western influence than (probably) at any point in our history and at the same time we want to do less and less with Russians. Especially with all the recent events regarding Russia and the rest of the world.

I believe the reason for homophobia is simply deep roots. The old generation is against it (which seems quite common all around the world, due to the world around them for most of their lives), that gets passed on the newer one and then reaches the youngest one. I don't think the cause for homophobia is the current Russian view about it, I think it's just an old view that never had a chance to change. That lack of an open-mind is what might have been Russian-influenced from back in the day. Because let's face it, we often lack tolerance in other places as well, not just homosexuality.

Bottom point though, he should've known better. Being an artist with an international fanbase, who's seen quite a lot of the world and not realizing that speaking out such things will bite you back is, quite frankly, stupid.

This is something I've mentioned elsewhere - obviously the ideal is that he doesn't hold bigoted views. But he has been around as an international travelling DJ for quite some time now, he should know that much of the world would be deeply offended by these comments. That alone should have made him think twice about posting such things.
