    $34.99

That ain't cheap, but I can't even be mad. Sometimes the kind of feeling you get from eating food that looks that good is hard to put a price tag on.

    Treat yo self.

    Definitely shareable between 2-3 prople

I normally eat for about 2-3 people..

Edit; Inserted "for about", because I do not eat people!

One eye, one horn, flying purple prople eater.

I live in Conway, about 20 mins from Myrtle Beach. I think I'll check that place out next time I'm up there.

Going there this weekend and now I know where I'm eating at!

12oz BBQ? Is that the pork butt looking pile of deliciousness I see?

I believe usually that would be chopped brisket. I generally prefer it not to be chopped. I've been told by several people that run bbq joints, the reason they do it is because people complain about the fat on the meat but when it's all chopped together no complaints.

Wrong, sorry. That's pork. Keep in mind, this is eastern BBQ. If the picture was from a Texas place, you might be right, but when someone from the southeast talks about BBQ, they mean pork.

I'm from Myrtle Beach, recently moved about 5 months ago. This place must be new because I've never hear of it. I know where I'll be going next time I'm home!

Welp, I know where I'm stopping by in this year's road trip

Stuff like this really makes me jealous of America. Nothing like this exists in Ireland despite how much beef we produce.

Unfortunately, good bbq isn't easy to find everywhere in America. I live in California and we don't have anything like the bbq posted here :(

    But tacos.

Come to Houston, we have both. Hence our fatness.

    [–]i_dont_respect_ducks 8ポイント9ポイント  (7子コメント)

i live in kansas city and all the barbecue is beautiful

Yeah. All we have in Illinois is a couple chain restaurants. Save for this one really sweet place (that I haven't tried yet) where I go to school.

Have you been to every part of Illinois? There are some GREAT BBQ places that aren't chains in the Chicagoland area that offer a platter looking exactly like OP's picture. I'm guessing you're generalizing based on the limited life experiences you've had so far.

    [–]marshall_banana_ 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

I live in Chicago and there are two great BBQ places on my block.

Pfft not true. I'm a norcali person and I get plenty of awesome BBQ.

wow thanks for the downvotes guys?

    you only think its good

I've traveled to the south too. Its pretty good

Kansas City BBQ is where its at.

    Eastern NC BBQ master race

I'm in the South and on average you're probably right. I had to research that myself to believe it.

Prove it. Where? (Said happily not like an ass)

Sam's BBQ in san jose is pretty good.

Not OP, but Phil's BBQ in San Diego is pretty amazing. The BBQ in Texas is better, but not by much tbh.

I'm a relatively recent Texas transplant to SoCal... I have found BBQ like this. It meets my standards.

Don't leave us hanging! Would love to know what places have the Texan seal of approval

So far I've found Gus's in South Pasadena and Zeke's in Montrose

You could always read up on it and make it yourself.

It's actually fairly reasonable to do yourself. I'd recommend a Weber Kettle grill which uses charcoal. The challenge might be finding wood chips for smoke but most places that sell grills probably sell chips (or a garden center).

The rest you can probably google. It's really straight forward ingredients. The skill for bbq is really timing and keeping the grill at a consistent 'low and slow' temp.

For ingredients, we use pork in the Carolinas. Texas is known for beef. But you can also do chicken as well which may be cheaper there. A big part of the fun is experimenting. After a while everybody has their own techniques. There seems to be a lot of fans internationally so I'm sure there are some guys trying it in Ireland.

Although it varies, BBQ is usually some form of pork rather than beef - at least in my experience.

That 100% depends on where you live. North Carolina? All pork. Texas? All beef. Kansas City? Little bit of both.

Hey hungry Irish person, Bubbacue in Belfast does a platter that's quite like this, great place if you are ever in town.

Good BBQ is pork, not beef. There is your problem. :P

Oh right, well we have loads of pigs too:(

I can give you a good recipe to approximate it! :)

The only bbq place in my town shut down. I found out when I had been craving their Pulled Pork nachos for like a week and finally got the motivation to drive there, only to see the note on the door explaining that they were out of business :(

this place had an appetizer called redneck nachos which I wanted to try badly. Unfortunately after consuming this plate of meat I could not eat anything else

It was $9 for about 1.5 pounds of nachos with their homemade bbq sauce, pulled pork, cheddar cheese (or goop cheese, whichever you asked for) and a mix of chopped onions and jalapeños. For $2 more it came with 2 sides (macaroni and cheese with cheezit crumbles, homemade baked beans, corn bread, or coleslaw) and a drink. Enough food for 2-3 people or 2 days worth of food. They also had some of the best ribs I've ever eaten. I died inside a little bit when I read that note. The only time I had better bbq was when I was working in North and South Carolina.

that sounds unbelievably good. I need to travel more to have good bbq

Why the chicken tenders? Seems a bit out of place.

    I know. That's a cryin shame.

So do the sorry looking sides. All signs point to this being an overpriced generic "BBQ" place.

I thought for sure it was Famous Dave's when I saw the pic.

A true Barbque platter is just brisket, sauce and bread on butcher paper. Nothing fancy needed.

Disagree. Sides are key. The meat is always the main event but the sides go a LONG way to completing the meal.

I'm a coleslaw fan. I always try the slaw at a place once, if it's garbage (usually due to far too much mayo) I'm not as likely to eat there again (I live in Kansas City so I'm not hurting for options.)

luxury. a real mans bbq platter is just a piece of raw meat on a napkin and and angry looking grin from the man who served it to you

Chicken tenders are very much a southern comfort food, and have been for a looong time.

I don't really think chicken tenders when I think BBQ though.

    Well, regardless, they are.

Doesn't mean it's barbecue. Lived in the south my whole life never seen chicken fingers on a BBQ platter.

I' ve seen them alongside plenty of bbq's. I guess it just depends where you are/where you eat.

What is that in the top left corner?

Those are hush puppies. Basically fried dough balls made out of corn meal.

Dude! I love that place! I live in Ocean Isle Beach, when I saw the checkerboard paper I was like, "There's no way, but I think this is the BBQ House." Glad you like the joint!

OP, if. You ever get to Greenville, try out Local Cue.

You put that up when people get their money, it does look mouth watering.

Every time I see someone post a picture of bbq platters, I think to myself how much fun it would be to enjoy some of it...alas, woe is me.

FUCK I MISS 'MURICA. SOMEONE MAIL ME BBQ SAUCE! ~ Someone who moved to Oz to marry an Aussie before thinking of the ramifications of no bbq through.

Oh, and you can't get liquid smoke or most of the other ingredients here to make your own sauce!

Also no one uses charcoal here, and I haven't seen a single smoker!

Theres an episode on BBQ where he makes a ceramic electric smoker for pulled pork out of a hot plate and some bigass flower pots. They took all the episodes off youtube and i know US netflix only has few episodes, and not that one, but heres an instructable of it at least.

I've heard of a flower pot smoker, never tried using one. Hell, I usually left the bbqing to the men-folk, but desperate times call for desperate measures.

My hardware store list just got weirder. ^_^

It looks a platter you'd get at a Memphis Blues... damn it... I want some Memphis Blues.

    [–]Lanigangam_style 0ポイント1ポイント  (1子コメント)

What is a Memphis Blues? From Memphis so I'm curious.

It's a small chain of restaurants in BC and Alberta. Everything is slow BBQ-ed, jazz and blues music, zero salads.

There is a special called the Elvis Platter that's like 40 bucks that can feed 5 people. Their pulled pork is awesome.

I feel like I never see hush puppies down here in texas. :(

You are missing out. Cinnamon butter sauce was amazing to dip them in.

I thought they were called "corn dodgers" or something in SC. Either way, they're awesome.

Not sure where you are in Texas, but in downtown Austin there's a place called "Turf n' Surf" that has great jalapeno hush puppies.

Plus they have great fried fish and a window that allows you to order from inside the neighboring Lavaca Street bar. Highly recommend it to anybody in Austin.

Oh, hell yes. I've crushed many a late-night po-boy at that place.

Even the jalapeno hush puppies I had at Arby's were frigging awesome. I can only imagine if they were homemade.

I'm an Austinite. and that sounds fucking delicious. Will investigate further.

I miss Austin food. Happy eating!

Stagecoach Inn in Salado (about halfway between Waco and Austin).

Superb hush puppies. Superb desert. Pretty damn good homestyle cooking.

I'm from Texas and we definitely have hush puppies, but they're usually served with fried catfish.

they're deep fried so you won't find them at a lot of bbq restaurants. Texas

Where in Texas? I see them pretty frequently, especially served with catfish. Since they are both corn based.

    Fish is corn based?

    The breading of fried catfish.

    Yeah right fatty

my main concern is this is ostensibly SC BBQ, but that is not mustard based sauce. heresy i say. other than that somewhat minor qualm i can envision myself loins deep in this here plate of high protein and cholesterol glory.

I don't think it's minor. That's the first thing I saw. That sauce is way too thick and I would bet it's sickly sweet like some heinz bbq sauce out of a squeeze bottle bullshit. Just my opinion.

Yeah I'm familiar with this place and I can assure you that it won't be winning any awards any time soon. Chicken Tenders? lol

Most places like this have a choice of sauces, I'm betting OP just got what he/she wanted

affirmative. There was about 6 sauces on the table standard when you sit down and more choices that could be brought to you. I actually tried quite a few once I started digging in.

    Looks great though.

This qualifies as food porn? This is dinner every night in Texas. Man we have it lucky.

That is the saddest bbq "platter" I have ever seen. That barely qualifies as a helping. Is that the kids plate?
