After the worries about IGN and Polygon giving the game bad reviews / intital looks, we have seen nothing but glowing reviews from other outlets.

In the end reviews don't really matter in a game like this, but if it pushes more people to give the game a go instead of writing it off straight away then that can't be bad!

Polygon gave it a 7.5 and IGN is still reviewing it. IGN sounds a bit mixed on their impression so far though.

IGN is only impressed every year when COD comes gets perfect score even tho its repainted shit ever since first MW.

I know that this is a circlejerk, but this is just childish. Do you realy think that is how it works?

[–]Sylvanasshowroom [スコア非表示]  (2子コメント)

Well i dont really think so i know so,since i can backup my facts that COD has been made on the same graphical engine since the first MW,and every year we get pretty much the same crap and every year IGN gives it over 9,so its not really childish i just stated the obvious,if it bothers you well deal with it.

COD has been made on the same graphical engine since the first MW

Which isn't true, and doesn't even matter. Engines =\= graphics, it is just a tool. It doesn't need to be re-done from 0 each time you make a game

Best example = HotS. It runs on a "recycled" SC2 engine.

it's def how it works, cod always scores high and has been a terrible game since it went from a PC title only to consoles as well. It's a different similar story new maps and skins and as a company like IGN wears their knee pads instead of thrashing the call of duty franchise.

About gaming press - yeah, it's 100% shit, undebatable. But to make new cod, it takes best pros in industry work for 2 years. Similar or not - it is huge effort.

I am willing to bet it's not as big as you think, making a new triple a title sure but making an updated version of a previous game with a new name is not a huge effort, Most things for the engine were completed previously they may get an update, most their work is toward map design.

While im not a COD player, nor a fanboy - You can't deny that COD is good at what it does. It knows what its playerbase wants and it gives it to them. The company makes millions off it, so they must be doing something right heh.

I'm not saying they aren't good at what they do, they are similar to apple, Cod2 was the last great game they put out IMO.

Really...so I guess you've missed the plethora of praise given to games like Cities:Skylines recently? You're obviously not COD's target audience, many actual enjoy it.

Black Ops is a different thing tho. Zombie mode, interesting story and non-linear campaign in BO2. BO3 seems to be about cyberpunk, its philosophy included.

When not-moba players review moba games that happens...

"Heroes of the Storm remain winnable for either team until a very advanced stage"...which is not necessarily a good thing. To have a single team dominate the entirety of a match and then lose due to a single game ending team fight is not a design choice which rewards competitive gameplay.

I've yet to watch a single game of meta which rewarded the spectator with amazing strategic plays and skill and I've been streaming it constantly for the last month. Maybe it just needs time?...I mean...you'll never see Dendi like plays with Pudge on Stitches.

HOTS is a lot of fun, my girlfriend loves it but she is TERRIFIED of DOTA and the brick wall learning curve, she also likes how people seem to be a little more understanding that she's a beginner. I think I'll dip my toe into HOTS but to scratch my competitive itch I'll stick with DOTA. I can enjoy both though since they provide different feels. I refuse to play LOL though because the only itch it scratches is my hatred of public matchmaking.

Edit I'm being downvoted because I obviously have an opinion which goes against the sub, I'm sorry about that!

We won't know how good of a competitive game HotS will be until teams get house, coaches, and analysts. Comparing LoL play 2 years ago to current plays shows just how far the game has come mainly in terms of macro teamplay.

To have a single team dominate the entirety of a match and then lose due to a single game ending team fight is not a design choice which rewards competitive gameplay.

If a team "dominates" for the first 10 minutes or so, they'll just finish before the 15th minute. If they still lose a teamfight with several levels ahead, that's their own fault and enough of a mistake that the enemy team should have a shot at winning the game still.

People still pay attention to review sites? It's the same with movie critics. "These people not only paid me, but gave me their game for free -- 10/10 must-have game of the year!"

EDIT: I'm just amused by people caring about critics when their income is entirely based on what they write about games. Bad reviews = less developers willing to work with you = less pay

[–]SylvanasRobDeeJay [スコア非表示]  (2子コメント)

Yeah thats not how it works.

[–]XANi_ [スコア非表示]  (0子コメント)

No, you have to make a clickbaity article so more ppl click you ads

[–]Dargok#1888Dargok [スコア非表示]  (0子コメント)

If that wasn't how it worked, then people would actually respect IGN.
