So TLC has a show, My 600 Pound Life, and some of those people eat 7000 calories a day. You could choose any 35 plates in this album to get there.

35 plates per day

That's like 70 tablespoons of peanut butter. THAT'S A LITER OF PEANUT BUTTER

I like what you do with math.

Lex Luthor ate 40 cakes. That's as many as four 10s.

And that's terrible.

The show has people pushing 800 pounds now, 600 pounds is what they are trying to get DOWN too, one lady had a hundred pound mass on her leg...that's the weight of a small fucking person hanging onto you

for fucks sake my mom weighs 95 pounds! She weighs less than a leg!

She weighs less than a part of a leg.

At that point, I'm fairly certain you can refer to it as a haunch and not be offensive.

It wasn't her leg, it was a growth.

I saw this one where a lady was so big she accidentally rolled onto her 5 year old nephew and killed him. This woman was so fucking large she had 3 butt cheeks

Not making any excuses for those people at all, but you're missing out on a very important source of calories : soda and snacks.

A 2-liter bottle of Coke is a whopping 800 calories. Add to this snacks like candy bars (229 in a single Mars bar) and chips (900 calories in a large bag of Doritos), and... Yeah, it really piles up.

Again, not saying this is normal or even easy for a normal, healthy individual... But people don't get to 600 pounds eating broccoli, that's for damn sure.

The other big offender is things like salad dressing. Let's go with the obvious favorite ranch dressing. One serving is two tablespoons at 145 calories. With how some people poor on the dressing let's say 3 servings, though I feel that may be on the light side for some. 3x145=435 calories. On dressing alone. Even if you go light you're still looking at 80 calories per serving. 3x80=240 calories. That's pretty significant.

We had a huge guy at our college. he was massive, by the end he had to have walker to walk.

I felt bad for him, for a very short period of time. Then I heard him complaining, constantly, about his weight. Including complaining about how all he eats are salads, in the lunch room, where I could see his salad that must have had like a liter of ranch dressing piled on top.

I don't know if no one told him or what, but at some point you gotta just accept that you're in college and presumably somewhat intelligent...fucking figure out how many calories you're eating. It would take you all of ten minutes to do it for one meal and then realize how fucked up your perceptions are.

That's still absolutely insane to me. It would be a real challenge for me to actually finish off a 2-liter coke and a big bag of Dorito's in one day. And that's only 1700 calories. I just wonder how much TIME you have to spend eating in order to hit 7k in one day.

Just eat incredibly calorie dense food all day

Yep. If you eat fast food all day long....donuts for breakfast, a burger for lunch, pizza for dinner....throw in a couple sodas and other snacks (chips)...that shit really adds up fast. 7000 calories is still a LOT of intake though.

This adds up to just under 3000 calories, and I tried to be generous on the portions. I know plenty of people who can easily put away two burgers or more than three slices of pizza.

People seem to be becoming generally more health conscious, but there are still a LOT of people who keep these high calorie diets...because the meals are cheap, it's convenient, and the food tastes good...and a lot of people either don't know or just don't care, especially once you make a habit of doing it.

Hell when I eat pizza I eat at least 5 slices

7000 is only a lot if you think of it as 3 meals. People eating 7000 calories are probably eating 5-6 "meals" and/or snacking constantly throughout the day (and many wake up hungry and eat at night too). The biggest shock is how much time they spend eating.

And Doritos are 3/4ths gone by the time they look down at the bag.

So add about 1000 calories to that.

If all you drank was coke (no water), 2 liters is pretty easy over the course of a day. Doritos can go in one sitting - that's the danger of big bags. Hell, I can do that if I don't stop myself and I'm 5'10" 175 lbs. The trick is just not to buy them to begin with.

Im 5'6" about 165 and pretty fit. I could easily eat a bag of doritos and drink a 2-liter in a day. One good stoning session is really all it would take

I could easily do that in an hour.

[–]no_talent_ass_clown 14ポイント15ポイント  (6子コメント)

Being big isn't something that just happens. You spend a lot of your time thinking about your next meal. It's like a hobby, not like just another part of your day. Everything you do revolves around food. Going to the mall? Where will you eat once you are there? Going to the movies? Better get snacks. Going to the grocery store? Better hit the fast food before you go, wouldn't want to shop on an empty stomach. Everywhere you go, you think about what the food options are. Happy hour? What's the food on special? Reading the paper? What's new in the food column? Planning a day trip? Where will you eat? Seriously, it's not three meals a day, it's a lifestyle.

EDIT: I actually got this sort of wrong. When you're bigger, you don't think about going to the mall first, then fit your food around it. You think about eating first, then fit your activities around that. For example, you buy a bunch of food to eat at home (not, like, salmon and peas but maybe a 15-pack of fried chicken fingers, ranch dip, a cake, milk, soda and some potato chips to eat after dinner) and then you turn on the TV or surf the web to accompany your feast. Or perhaps there's a restaurant you want to try - so you think about things you could do in that part of town you know, while you're there. The food always comes first.

I think of being that fat as a form of body building. They're just spending all those hours every day building a disgusting, amorphous body.

Breakfast: McDonald's Breakfast: Sausage McMuffin with Egg (450) + Sausage Biscuit with Egg (510) + 2 hash browns (300) + large Hi-C orange (310) and a large McCafé White Chocolate Mocha (480) for a grand total of 2050.

Lunch: Burger King lunch Double Whopper with Cheese (990) Medium Fries (410) + Medium Onion Rings (410), and a large Barq's root beer (430). Adds up to 2240 cals.

Dinner: An entire DiGiorno rising crust pizza is 2100 calories by itself. Add a 20oz MtDew and you're up to 2390. Add a couple Chocolate Iced Custard Filled doughnuts from KrispyKreme and you're up to 3010 cals.

That all ads up to 7300, and that's not even including a snack in the afternoon.

This, in my mind, still doesn't even seem feasible. That's definitely a lot of calories in three sittings, but that breakfast alone would leave me (and a lot of other people) physically incapable of functioning. A white chocolate mocha on TOP of two breakfast sandwiches? Buh gawd King, those arteries had a family.

So 4 litres of Coke every day, a bag of doritos or two, and almost a litre of peanut butter? That doesn't make it any better.

You pretty much hit the nail on the head. I've done Weight Watchers a couple times in the past, and you subscribe to a point system instead of counting calories. Basically, you can eat those 600 pounds of broccoli and they won't count for anything. However, that doughnut is gonna fuck you up.

When I'm really invested, I have to scour the fridge and pantry for food items to account for my points because I'm eating so many vegetables.

I don't want a large farva. I want a goddamn litre o' peanut butter!

Hey, do we have litre peanut butter? It's for a cop.

Don't spit in that cop's peanut butter...

[–]Lionet 7

Or about 20 kg (44 pounds) of broccoli.

Better yet, celery.

By my count it would be 96 lbs of celery to get 7000 calories from celery.

Now, you might literally die from having 96 lbs of fibrous mass in your stomach.

But you would probably burn more than 7000 calories digesting it if you lived!

I don't want a largefarva, I want a goddamn liter of peanut butter!

A liter of peanut butter?

Shame you couldn't use a straw with that.

I'll take 200 Calories of Kiwi please.

Fuck that, im ever eating a kiwi again, give me the 9/10ths of a donut every time.

Infact, give me 8/10ths instead and ill be healthier than you!

That is a lot of broccoli can I take half and have some cheese melted on that?

When I was dieting, I'd buy the Green Guant or Birdseye frozen broccoli & cheese and eat the whole damn bag for like 300 calories. It was great!

I find it has a funny taste compared to fresh broccoli.

Agreed, but when you're dieting, it'll do.

Are you sure you don't need non-gmo, free range broccoli from local farmers only in order to lose weight? That frozen broccoli has a lower Chakra count than fresh broccoli.

Hah, you'll need some Reiki healing to get the chakras aligned again.

I mean fresh broccoli is pretty cheap year round, and will usually last 2-3 weeks in your fridge; I always buy fresh and steam that shit when I get hungry.

If your dieting just roast broccoli in the oven with a little bit of oil, some spices (paprika, garlic powder, or just salt and pepper). Shit is delicious and much healthier than frozen broccoli with cheese.

But dear god do NOT forget to get it out of the oven unless you want your house to smell like burnt farts for a few days.

Yeah. Stop eating low amounts of calories in the wrong way.

This may be a joke, but honestly you should.

I'm pretty sure research has shown that people who go on diets that have shitty tasting food and they don't like don't last on them very long.

So if you can make your low calorie food actually taste good (like roasting or lightly steaming broccoli with some salt and oil) you are more likely to stick to your diet.

When I failed dieting, I would fill myself up with cucumber and cigarettes. It wasn't a healthy diet.

[–]google_academic [スコア非表示]  (1子コメント)

You're supposed to eat the cucumber and smoke the cigarettes.... that why you didn't lose weight.

Wasn't it uncomfortable and how much did you spend on Astroglide ?

You're supposed to eat the cucumbers though.

100 calories of cheese is not much cheese.

More than you'd think. Most cheeses I've seen are ~110-130 cal per oz. It's more than you'd think if you're using, say, shredded cheese.

Oh man. Using the super fine grater and ounce of cheese is so fucking much. It's like a mountain.

I like to make paper-thin slicers of aged cheddar until I've measured 1oz, and then eat them by letting them dissolve on my tongue while reading a book.

Pairs well with a sweet apple.

That's alot more Froot Loops than I expected.

Out of curiosity, I looked this up: a cup of 2% milk would add another 124 calories.

Cut that in half with almond milk!

Almonds ain't got no tits, it's not accurate to call it milk

I aint drinking white shit that can be called nut juice

You mean you don't want to drink what came out of my nut milk bag?

They do nuttin' better? Oh god they nut the best, I didn't even fucking realize it was a competition.

EDIT: On second thought, nuttin skill sounds kind of like basic natural selection

[–]Delrin 4

Almond juice

[–]TedTheGreek_Atheos [スコア非表示]  (0子コメント)

It's more like water with the juice of roughly .39 cents worth almonds; about 23 of them.

No milk probably helps. A lot of empty volume in dry cerial

And calories. Jesus christ, I can eat a lot of fruit loops.

Here's 100 calories of radishes.

If there's one food you can basically eat all you want, it's radishes. Love the damn things.

Pickles are another one. A normal size 4 inch pickle is roughly 10-15 calories. High sodium, but it's pretty filling for 15 calories.

Wow, I just got the joke in Archer where Pam was eating the massive radish and said it was the most fattening thing in Mallory's fridge.

Radishes are so good, and good for you. Come to think of it you made me realize how little radishes I've eaten lately. Adds to grocery list

They're in season right now too.

Where I live, they're almost always in-season. Grow them!

In middle school I thought it was a great idea to start a little three foot by one foot garden. Grew a few radishes, cucumbers, and tomatoes. I realized how much I hated getting up extra early to water it, but they all turned out fantastic. The zesty crunch of fresh radishes is almost as good out of the garden as the taste of genuine garden tomatoes. A little bit of salt and I'll eat garden tomatoes like an apple. Delicious.

How do you eat those ?

  • cut off the top and bottom

  • place in mouth

  • chew

I've been chewing for ten minutes, what do I do now?

spit them out, we'll call it the no-swallow diet

hur-hur

Spit it out and start with a new radish. Never swallow radish pieces, it's deadly...

[–]friend_of_bob_dole [スコア非表示]  (1子コメント)

As somebody who has actually never eaten a radish before - I'm really not sure whether you're serious or not (aside from maybe exaggerating a little).

/u/Dookie_boy, /u/opeth10657 forgot one step, LIGHTLY salt the bastards. Makes them so much better.

[–]A_frakkin_Cylon [スコア非表示]  (0子コメント)

What do radishes taste like? I always imagined they tasted similar to onions but more fibrous which sounds awful. Please convince me to try one.

[–]Gobias_Industries 2ポイント3ポイント  (1子コメント)

I do that with baby carrots.

You'd have about 1k calories if you had that many carrots

By far my favorite vegetable. I munch on those bad boys with some salt... mmmm.

That's not a burger. That's a poorly ground taco salad with a side of hamburger bun.

That can't be 20,000 calories. Assuming half a burger in the original is 200 calories. That means a full burger is 400. This has 8 hamburger patties. Even if the patties are double the size and we'll say its 800cal per pattie. Thats 8x800 = 6400 calories. Thats 8 layers of bacon. and by each layer, looks to be about the same amount as the 200 calorie picture (but we'll double that just to be sure) so 8x400 = 3200 calories of bacon. I think the red onions and tomatoes will be relatively negligible, but we'll add 200 calories to those and another 500 calories for the bread. And 8 slices or cheese at 100 calories a slice That's a grand total of 6400+3200+200+500+800 = 11100 calories with some gross over-estimation.

That looks like someone just copied and pasted the middle of the burger a bunch of times. No way the real thing looks that good.

Bacon... not so bad.

Honestly, if your goal is to feel full from very few calories I don't think it gets much better than bacon. Not saying you should eat only bacon, of course not, but it makes calorie deficits extremely easy. The bacon I get is only 50 calories a slice.

For me it's extremely hard not to run large calorie deficits if I only eat high fat low carb foods, whereas I can literally eat an entire loaf of sourdough bread after eating half a pizza and not feel as full as a plate of bacon.

Fuck I'm hungry. Does anyone have 200 calories?

I suggest 2000 rice, its great for some one who wants to eat a lot of one thing.

The first one looks like a mouth full of canker sores to me :(

[–]cleaver_username [スコア非表示]  (1子コメント)

I used to get insane amounts of canker sores as a kid. At one point, i have 5 in my mouth at once. Sometimes, two small ones would merge into one big one. After awhile of this my mom took me to the doctor. Apparently I was eating too many fresh fruits and veggies that were acidic. We had a huge garden, so I would go out and just pick cucumbers and tomatoes and munch them all day long. Thank god we figured it out though. No one should ever have to feel that pain :(

[–]Mister_Johnson_ [スコア非表示]  (0子コメント)

I'm sorry :( I think 5 at once is my record as well, and I know exactly what you mean about two growing and merging into one. I freakin love ice cold fresh-squeezed orange juice, but it's not worth the pain :(

Kiwi allergy is real dude. I saw that plate and was like "Nope, that's not 200 calories, that's a trip to the ER."

what about semen

The average male ejaculation contains between 200 and 300 million sperm, and is about 5 calories.

You'd have to gulp down about 40 loads to get to 200 calories.

Does that go in the "snacks" section of myfitnesspal, or should I log it as a meal?

Strawberries are about 4 calories a piece. So... 50 strawberries.

Here's what 270 calories looks like. Not bad for a breakfast. Since I've started counting calories it's amazing how much or how little food you can get sometimes. To me that's a pretty decent amount of food. I could eat two of those and be too full or eat one of these (440 calories) and be unsatisfied.

What is that and how do I make it because that looks absolutely delicious

make eggs. put greens on them. put red onion on them. put cooked meat on them (if this is only 270 calories, this would probably have to be a leaner meat, maybe chicken, but it doesnt really look chicken). done.

I was hoping one of them would be a plate of spiders. :(

Sugar addiction can be reversed. If you manage to cut refined sugars from your diet, you'll eventually stop craving it.

So like heroin, I guess.

And if you stay off sugar long enough fruits, and vegetables like bell peppers and carrots are insanely sweet. Bell peppers are like candy.

This is the most amazing discovery I ever made when switching shit up to get in shape. I completely cut out anything with excessive sugar. Apples are like an explosion of sweetness and it's fucking awesome.

Oddly enough, it was the low-carb energy drinks packed with aspartame sugar substitutes that made me lose the need for sugar.

It is crazy how true this is. About 3 years ago I stopped drinking sodas. I drink MAYBE 1 coke a week during lunch. I quit carrying juices at home, no white breads etc... started looking at the sugar on everything I eat. I now have SO much control on what I eat. It is like heroin and american's have no idea how much sugar they intake.

P.S. I smoke marijuana every day. I no longer get sugar munchies or anything!

Start small. Cut sodas. You will get a mental boost. Then you start making small changes overtime

Exactly. This initial decrease in stupidity will lead to further better decisions about eating.

I can't suggest this enough. Don't stop at soda, though. Cut out any sugary drink. I don't drink soda besides on special occasions and when before I could down a whole two liter bottle by myself, I can drink like a can and a half now of coke. Likewise with juice. Cutting out sugary drinks is an easy way to losing 5-10 Lbs in a year, honestly.

I used to need a sugary drink with meals. Then I was str a pped foe cash for a bit and figured getting just water would save a bit of money. Now I just drink water with my meals outside of rare occasions.

I'm heavily addicted to caffeine and I'm working my way off of it. I'm mixing in more and more decaf as the days go by and I'm not noticing the effect. Sometimes gradually working your way off is the way to go.

On the flip-side I've been an alcoholic for a long time and I recently quit drinking. The only way I was able to do that was to go cold-turkey and head to support groups.

So try a couple of methods, you can quit if you really want to.

Congrats on cutting out the booze. I swear, there should be support groups for cutting out caffeine, too. I live in Seattle, it's hard to avoid.

Gratz on kicking alcohol. It's not as easy as some people think.

I'm curious, how much iceberg lettuce would you have to eat to make 200 calories. I'm sure there is not enough room on that plate or just about any plate.

According to this site, 72g of Iceberg Lettuce is 10kcal. Doing a bit of math gives 1.44kg, or 3.18lbs, for 200kcal.

That's not including the ranch dressing that many people drown it in.

About a year ago I actually started counting my calories. Everything I ate, every snack, every drink, everything I put into my body I counted. Then did a little research and found out how many calories I need to be eating in order to be healthy while working out (for me is about 1900/day).

I realized my daily intake was closer to ~2400/day. I cut out that extra beer, stopped drinking sugary drinks, and really cut out snacking on processed foods. I switched to carrots as my snack.

Since last July, I have lost 30lbs (from 170 -> 140) then began lifting and eating a bit more with a lot more protein. I am back to 150 and whoa what a difference it is.

Calories aren't everything though. Fat, saturated fat, sugar, etc... All these things matter in terms of eating healthy. For example, I love apples, but they have a lot of sugar in them. Average full sized apple has around ~23 grams of sugar. A packet of sugar one would put in their coffee has around 4 grams of sugar. So eating an apple, is about the same as eating 5-6 packets of sugar, as far as sugar content goes.

that kiwi one seems a little unbelievable. Fruits are really high in sugar, which would add a lot of calories from carbs. However, upon looking it up, a kiwi has 10 grams of carbs, putting it at 40 calories from sugar and fiber. So i guess that really is accurate
