I've seen depictions of it before, I know it is huge.

I've seen pictures of its construction in the lab, I know it is huge.

But with the trees and people around it, in a park like any other, now I know it is huge!

Could be something of religious or personal significance. Think Dan Simmons' Hyperion: seven people traveling to meet a violent demigod which will certainly eviscerate six of them and possibly (possibly) grant the survivor (if there is one) his wish. What passions drive the seven to make this pilgrimage to certain death, on the eve of galactic war?

the fate of both worlds hang

Adjust that to "the fates of both worlds hang in the balance" or "the fate of both worlds hangs in the balance", and I'm sold!

edit: When's the next installment? Don't do "both the fates of the worlds hang", goddang.

I got the whole party to go on a multi-session quest for poison ingredients to kill a monster, because some old dude at the pub thought it was a good idea. Turns out the monster is immune to poison, and any ranger or druid worth his salt would have told them so, had they thought to ask.

Do you build your game tools to work "in" the game, using the game engine and sharing code between tools and game, or are they more often separate from the game?

Sure it is. Overflow bits are discarded when incrementing a uint32, a uint16, or a uint1, if it existed (which of course it does not, except conceptually as 1 & x).

Did just a tiny bit of work over the weekend, but I managed to throw together the beginnings of a level editor for Time of Wizards.

Have other people found that they spend quite a bit of time building tools to make their game? Is this typical for Löve2D development?

What would "incrementing" a single bit be, if not flipping it?

Understandable - the only reason I didn't skip is because I was mortified at the thought of missing the experience of the entire balloon burst by skipping into the middle of it. Pffft!

x being uninitialized means it doesn't matter with which foot you start. Bit's gonna be 1 or 0.

It's definitely incremented, unless I'm not understanding the ^= operator?

Things like diction, word order, and idioms are great, because you can write it in directely in the dialogue without fucking with the spelling (which is gravely irritating).

From my design documents:

The people of the Weald (Wealdans) have fair-to-olive skin, tend to have dark hair, often with streaks of red, and speak the Wealdan dialect of Common, which is light and lilting, lisping the s and with a crisp, rolling r. They tend to speak directly, but never bluntly, seeing uncouched criticism as disrespectful and impolite.

The Age of Wizard-Kings

When Wizards first appeared, they seemed a mixed blessing. Yes, they often did good things, make great works, healed the sick, etc. But a few were not so benevolent, and desired more power. Wizards came to the thrones across the world: some in order to keep peace and to aid their people, and others to dominate the weak. Wizards-Kings, being human, quickly fell to war.

Evil wizards, being less scrupulous in their application of the arcane arts, tended to have the upper hand in battle, to the detriment of the populous. Good kings, mundane and Wizard alike, were destroyed by brute force, by underhanded tactics, and by old age, being replaced by those who yearned most for their position and those most able to seize it - power-hungry Wizard-Kings.

So it was that power passed to the darkest of the Wizard-Kings, and centuries passed under their yoke, with not a drop of compassion or humanity left to nourish the huddled masses.

The Age of the Wizard-Kings passed into history when the great Wizard Moshiach Shaddai, the Redeemer, appeared and destroyed the Wizard-Kings. Four centuries have passed since He passed from this life, and the world has been rebuilt.

There's a semantic difference, though: the Black Hole grid is representing physical space (or space-time), whereas the grid in Tron and Kung Fury is cyberspace.

math 内の FuckedAsBored によるリンク Concept of dividing by a negative

[–]TheWalruss 2ポイント3ポイント  (0子コメント)

There are a lot of people using velocity examples, which don't work because of the difficulty using negative time.

Runners (and other racing sports) will often talk about "pace", which is the inverse of speed. 5-minute kilometers, 6-minute miles, etc.

So how about saying north is positive, south is negative, and what's the pace when you run 5 miles south in 30 minutes?

30 minutes / -5 miles = -6 (minutes per north-miles)

A bit shaky, but might be helpful?

I suppose I'll follow an incremental approach, more or less as I described. If I have a clear feature list for the iteration I'm currently working on, feature creep can only affect the next more complex iteration, and only after the current iteration is completely finished.

Thanks for the advice!

So you're saying that you tend to wait with this decision until you're satisfied with the game, rather than trying to decide before development is under way?
