This won't work for most people though. The majority don't have the correct mindset for running a business or drive to be 100% responsible for their own success. They need constant direction and the safety net of knowing that even if they slack-off they'll get the same pay cheque as if they'd worked hard.

For example: Even if painting (or the portrait/landscape variety) were the highest paid profession I wouldn't be able to pursue such a career as my mind simply isn't wired up for that sort of thing. I've been shit at drawing / painting since I was a kid and I'm pretty sure no amount of tuition would have made me anywhere near as good as someone who was naturally gifted.

I'd say the same is true for learning languages, programming, running businesses, writing music, etc, etc.

Not everyone has the aptitude for it.

This is how the majority of positions in the job market are filled. This has always been the case and likely always will be.

It's why knowing and being friends with as many people as possible is always worth your time, and is why antisocial shut-ins tend to do less well than their maybe less qualified, but more social peers.

It's also partially why folks with successful parents tend to also end up being successful. They can automatically jump onto their parent's 'successful friends network' without having to expend time and effort building their own (they can do that later).

[–]DEADB33F 4ポイント5ポイント  (0子コメント)

the nominal GDP of the UK is currently £1.83 trillion. The nominal GDP of the EU is around £12.4 trillion.

I think you're comparing nominal vs PPP GDP figures (not to mention comparing a single country with the combined GDP of 28)

I just checked the figures and according to Wikipedia the UK's GDP is $2.84T / £1.86T (PPP) and the EU as a whole is $16.77T / £10.97T (PPP).

When you subtract Britain's contribution that leaves you with the average GDP of the other member being £0.34T, which make's Britain's £1.9T looks a lot more attractive.

Exiting Europe certainly wouldn't suddenly end all trade with European countries either. EEC free trade agreements existed well before the EU and there's absolutely no reason why free trade agreements can't again exist without EU membership being a requirement.

...If anything it'll be the fear-mongering and uncertainty that will affect the markets and our economy, not the actual act of leaving.

Having said all that, I don't think that exiting the EU is the right thing to do (as I don't believe it'll bring any significant benefits). But it's unlikely to be the unmitigated disaster you often hear about in certain areas of the press.

Did you get this sorted?

One issue could be that all the junk at the top of the rocket is causing excessive drag. Having nicknacks exposed to the airstream both slows your shit down, increasing your fuel requirements, and if forward of the CoG can make a ship unstable. Try removing it all and seeing if that helps. If it does place an instrument bay below your capsule and stick all your batteries & science stuff in there.

I think your main problem is your gravity turn though.

Your gravity turn should be a gradual thing started at a much lower altitude, keeping your ship pointed as close to the direction of travel as possible. Once you're moving at speed in atmosphere, try never move your attitude indicator (centre of the navball) beyond the yellow circle at the centre of the prograde marker. Doing so will create a lot of induced drag on the side of your rocket (which will slow you down and use more fuel), and will also lead to stability issues.

I'll usually kick my ship over a few degrees to start the gravity turn at around 1000m / 100m/s. Aiming for it to have gradually rolled over to 45 degrees by 10,000m, pointing in the direction of travel the whole way.

KerbalAcademy 内の FilthyMcnasty87 によるリンク Satellite network in multiple launches?

[–]DEADB33F 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

This is how I do it for geosynchronous sats...

  1. Launch them in a single launch vehicle.
  2. Don't bother with a parking orbit, boost the apoapse to final altitude.
  3. Use a steep-ish ascent, so by the time you reach apoapse KSC will still be directly visible.
  4. At apoapse boost the periapse until the orbital period is exactly 4.5 hours (KER allows you to get an orbital period to within a thousanth of a second)
  5. Release the first satellite, switch to it and circularize until the period is precisely 6 hours.
  6. Switch back to the rest of the cluster and nudge the periapse to bring the period back to 4.5 hours (to compensate for the kick of the decoupler).
  7. Warp for one orbit and release the next satellite.
  8. Repeat steps 5 & 6 until all satellites are in their orbits exactly 90 degrees out of phase with each other.

Here's an album I made a while back explaining it all (newer versions of KER give your period to the millisecond rather than the tenth as this album shows).

...To get the orbits precisely to the millisecond use low power engines when designing the satellites, and when fine-tuning right click the engine reduce the thrust as low as it'll go. For extra fine-tuning aim to your normal/anti-normal then aim a fraction of a degree towards pro/retrograde. This will have the effect of reducing your pro/retrograde thrust by another order of magnitude or two.

The same method as this can be used for non-geosyncronous satellites, or different numbers of satellites, you just need to work out the period at your desired final altitude then subtract a quarter to figure out your phasing period (assuming four satellites; subtract a third for three, etc).

Due to the quite large weight differences and better low-atmosphere ISP, Skippers are quite useful in the high upper atmosphere and for circularization burns of large craft.

[–]DEADB33F 0ポイント1ポイント  (0子コメント)

If you didn't want to wait a month to complete the scan, (and you're scanning from a high-ish orbit) then it'd probably be more efficient to just have a single satellite with more fuel on board so it can manually rotate the LAN about the poles.

That launch system was always designed to have the payload strapped to the side though, so would have had the centre of thrust over to one side to make up for the CoG not being central.

It was the same launch system subsequently used to launch the Buran.

This was nearly 20 years ago, I think the personal allowance was just over £3k at the time.

Reclaimed, hand-made / wire-cut bricks made from local clay were going for good money at the time (and I believe they still are).
But yes, mechanically made reclaimed bricks are far cheaper.

Oh, and self-employed isn't the same as VAT registered. I'm self employed now but not a VAT registered company. I can claim business expenses against my income tax but can't claim VAT back on things.

EDIT: I just checked, they're going for about the same money now as they were then.

I'm guessing that now the internet is a thing it's much easier for buyers to shop around suppliers all over the country rather than have to rely on local sources.

Kids pay taxes if they work and earn over the personal allowance threshold.

I learned this the hard way when I was 13.

I'd spent a summer buying rubble from a building site, having it trucked to an empty yard owned by a friend of my old man, sorting through the piles picking out the whole bricks, cleaning them up, palletizing them, selling the pallets for £500 each (£1/brick), and selling the broken ones & mortar as infill/hardcore. I even 'employed' a couple of mates to help out.

After the summer was over I'd banked over £10k, which wasn't bad for two months work as a 13 year old. My dad made me declare the income and pay income tax on it. Kinda put me off socialism for life.
