You empathize? They took money for a service. They are scam artists AT BEST. What they did is inexcusable. Whether it's disrespectful to the religion or not, they shouldn't conduct the wedding if they disagree with it. Taking money from someone, abusing their good faith, and making a mockery of them is deplorable. How could you possibly empathize with someone who would do such a horrible, intentionally malicious thing?

No... that's not the scenario. It's more like this:

You see someone walking down the street with money hanging out of a hole in their pocket. You tap them on the shoulder and tell them they have a hole in their pocket that a thief could easily steal money from them.

Getting angry at someone for reporting a bug is the equivalent of the person on the street getting angry at you for even looking for holes in pockets and calling you a thief.

Kali is not Tails.... I don't think the Live CD is the most common use at all. People who are using Kali for pentesting likely have a laptop with a Kali instance and all of their tools installed and configured to their liking. The notion that Kali is MEANT to be used as a Live CD primarily is just plain wrong and it's definitely not the "point" of it. The point of Kali is to have a platform with all useful tools in one location that it easily updated (something that's not the case for the Live CD version btw...). Having it in VM or as the dedicated OS on a device doesn't mean it's your day-to-day OS.

I have a Kali Nethunter Nexus 7 too. Are you suggesting that shouldn't be a permanent install either?

The larger argument we were having above was whether 4th Amendment protection is applicable to non-US citizens as it pertains to intelligence collection. It would seem to me that even the dissent to the Supreme Court case you posted supports my argument that it doesn't apply because the dissent argues that the US must apply 4th Amendment protection to someone who the US wished to prosecute under US criminal law. Foreign intelligence collection does not attempt to bring the intelligence targets up on criminal charges, therefor the 4th Amendment doesn't apply to them.

Would you agree with that?

Man.... while you're right that you can hear louder bass than high freqs without damage, you are SO wrong about there not being damage at this level. There is a certain point where there is obvious pain in your ears and this level of bass is WAY above that. Once you're in the range where the bass rattles your whole body, you are definitely doing ear damage.

"sh ~/Downloads/crouton -t help" will give you a list of possible targets crouton knows. Ubuntu with Unity might be in there. If not, you'll probably have to install with xfce, kde, or Gnome (you should try Gnome before Unity IMO...) and then install Unity via linux itself. I haven't installed Unity on my Chromebook so that'd be new for me. I have Ubuntu installed right now in KDE and Kali in Gnome and xfce.

Hah! I'm definitely not a god when it comes to linux. I'm probably just about 5-7 years ahead of where you are. We all start somewhere.

I'm new to crouton though (like just a few months ago I bought my Chromebook). I definitely only know its idiosyncrasies as it applies to my C300. I would google around. Odds are you aren't the only person facing issues.

I've installed all kinds of things without breaking it but I've never tried Steam. Steam does feel like it would have some graphical effects (which is what you're experiencing) but you could rule that out by trying to stop and restart before installing Steam.

Yep. The default target is Ubuntu with xfce (I think).

That's really odd.

You should try installing with default settings instead of specifying xfce. It should install xfce (xfce IS installing Ubuntu. xfce is just the GUI.) anyways but maybe the settings are different.

Hah we're full circle again. The commands i published originally are probably what you need but you failed because it was tailored to a kali install instead of ubuntu. Run these commands. Don't copy and paste the whole thing though because you switch context in the middle of them. Do them one at a time.

From the cromos shell (NOT the chroot-shell initially):

cd ~/Downloads

wget http://eirik.pw/pub/xorg.conf.d.tar.gz

sudo tar -xzf xorg.conf.d.tar.gz

sudo enter-chroot

sudo rm -rf /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d

sudo mv ~/Downloads/xorg.conf.d /usr/share/X11/

sudo startxfce4

What is your output when you type "sudo edit-chroot -a"?

Are you sure it's closed? Hold Ctrl+Alt+Shift, press the right arrow, and then release the buttons.

I should add that you should remove the one you setup before doing it again. This should do it:

sudo edit-chroot -d xfce

(assuming that xfce is the name of the one you started.)
