Some history:

Unlike today, /r/Oppression was not always a place for complete freedom. How could it be with the likes of /u/agentlame and /u/emr1028 on the mod list? In the past, the community had to win the freedom to use this subreddit in the way we know it today. The 4 year history of /r/oppression tells of numerous battles between "authoritarians" who wanted to put the swastika back and "oppressionists" who only want to report on oppression. History tells of mass demoddings and vandalisation. It also tells us of that fateful day when a rampaging power mod decided to ban each and everyone in the /r/oppression community. We should always remember the few good janitorial mods, who fought back to reclaim /r/Oppression as a place for users. Thanks to them, the age of "ModAbusePorn" and swastikas has long since come to an end. This subreddit will never again serve the perverted pleasures of the power mod cabal. /r/Oppression is a place for "oppressionists" and always will be.

We remain vigilant. We remember the dangers of the "authoritarians" through our symbolic "swastika" on the downvote mouseover. Let it remind us that there are hidden consequences for downvoting whistleblowers.

• r/Oppression Moderator list purification

We continue to cleanse the reminants of the "authoritarians" from this subreddit. Today we evicted some 40 moderators from our mod list. Not all of them were evil or even part of the old regime. However, they were all found to have installed the plugin from /r/toolbox causing us to no longer trust them. We also expect others to depart shortly and are also investigating strategies to ensure that they never come back .

Out on the front line, the people of reddit have won a small skirmish against the great oppressor /u/davidreiss666. Seeing him removed him from /r/europe warms our hearts. It is a small token victory and was certainly costly in terms of the shadowbans and the spam we have had to endure. However, we expect it to serve as a huge boost in morale which will rally users to our cause.
