Holy shit, this was unexpected. This policy was one of those things I thought they would never change. I wonder if they are trying to make up for the paid mods fiasco.

I think the threat from trolls and shitposters is extremely exaggerated. The mods are biased in thinking it's super important because they engage primary with the reported posts. In a sub ment for entertainment I completely see the point at having tone policing and mods that enforce a good atmosphere, sort of like the security guards at disney land. On this sub however we're all adults and should be prepared for being called names by someone on the internet.

I'd like rule 1 and 3 removed as well which can seem funny because I wrote rule 3 as it stands now. If it was enforced consistently we would ban like 20% of all users.

Just like most of the legislation and guidelines can be agreed upon and followed without the need for a political union.

To do that we need some kind of synchronised system where we can debate and ratify laws that we can all agree on and follow. Sort of like uhhh... a place where we unify... our politics. Like a... I don't know.... a political union?

Text posts get less upvotes on reddit.

Citation needed. The two most upvoted posts on reddit on all time are both text posts.

If they would be more popular users would prefer using them, they don't.

This is a tautology. "If they would be more popular they would be more popular." Your statement does not imply anything.

Kinda hard to claim they are more informative than linking to a 5000 word article though. The article is written by a person trained to write, the text post is not.

You can still link an article in a text post.

An argument can be made that the more text is given for a link the more the information of that link is hidden.

The opposite argument could also be made.

The agenda of the link-writer and the text-writer meshes and that could easily cause a drop in quality and thus less upvotes.

I would argue that this is a worse problem for link submissions as you cannot change a link after submitting while you can update a text post to reflect more accurate information.

Text posts are usually more informative anyway as moderates will find direct links to off-topic/socjus stuff confusing, this way the connection to GG can be properly explained.

Det är rimligt att tänka sig att kött är typ 50% vatten. Det är rimligt att tänka sig att du betalar för köttet och inte för vattnet. Alltså är torkat kött dubbla priset per kg.
