META[META] Why are KiA mods requesting /r/NeoKia? (self.KotakuInAction)

Today a user created the sub /r/NeoKia after vocally expressing disagreement with how /r/KiA is being run. For some reason this users account was deleted and /r/NeoKiA was left modless and open for request. GammaKing requested the sub with other KiA mods support him in the comments, link:

While I personally was not planing on moving to NeoKiA, it seems to be in rather bad taste to claim a sub that was created with the specific intention to get away from your moderation. This is the kind of thing SRS is know to do with subs they disagree with and I thought we where better than this.

I would like a public response from the mods about why they did this. You may disagree with the users that are vocally against the recent rule changes but you have to see how this seems incredibly petty and childish.

What's worse is that the guy who created it was probably banned. I mean, why would you delete your account right after creating a new sub? And isn't it strange how just after the creator got banned, one of the mods here is requesting control over it?

Just seems strange how all these coincidences keep cropping up.

My question is what do they plan to do with it provided they get it?

Would they axe the whole subreddit? Make it a carbon copy of KIA? Leave it to collect dust? Turn it into a super lightly moderated version of KIA?

If any KIA mod could answer this that'd be great.

Probably do what they did here if the sub got big, wait till it grows, then change the mission statement and rewrite history to say they were always only about ethics or some such.

Gamma requested it so that it wouldn't get requested by anyone from ghazi. There's no plans beyond that. If someone really wants it (providing he gets it) he'll probably give it up to them. There wasn't anything nefarious about requesting it. He just happened to be first (which is a good thing).

I agree about the name and I think making such a sub was silly. However, what bothers me is that the mods here immediately moved to grad power in it once they saw the account was deleted. They should respect the fact that some users might want a GamerGate sub with different rules/mods.

Essentially anything not actually relating to gamergate can still be posted here, but it has to be a self-post (text only), no linkposts. Separate subreddit was created to house all the e celeb drama and whatnot (like a serious version of TiA). Trolls come in and start a hand some people flint and kindling and stand back to watch the sub burn itself down. The regulars take it from there. Couple of mods are obnoxious douchebags, bunch of users are obnoxious conspiritards. World hunger is ended by vast oceans of spilled spaghetti.

Does anyone want to ask the most obvious question: Why did the user create the sub and then delete their account?

Call me paranoid, but if I were wanting to sow the maximum amount of dissent in an opponent's camp I would do exactly what just happened. I would latch onto a complaint against the perceived leadership, champion it, create an avenue to split the community, then abandon it. One of two things would happen: 1) SRS would take over in the power vacuum like they have so often in the past 2) In fear that SRS would take over, one of the leaders of my opponents would take steps to prevent that giving further credence to the claims I was promoting.

In our case since "membership" is a zero cost thing it would be simple to turn a small legitimate concern into a wildfire of controversy. Trolling 101.
