Thank you.

We started out /r/iOSMasterRace because the Apple Circlejerk subs have been taken and we really wanted one. We eventually got our hands on /r/iOSCircleJerk, and then eventually this one.

In the end, /r/iOSMasterRace and /r/iOSCirclejerk proved to be redundant, so we shut them down in favor of this.

We'll gladly hand over the keys to /r/iOSMasterRace though, to whomever thinks they want to start it over again, but for now it will be a redirect to /r/AppleCircleJerk.

Again, thanks. We appreciate that very much.

Thank you for your classiness.

A brief history of the /r/iOSMasterRace subreddit because I was one of the original creators:

I am an avid Android user. /r/iOSMasterRace was created in 2013 as a joke, and the original posts were satire. A troll sub if you will. It garnered some attention and we got a few laughs out of it, but eventually it became inactive.

About a year and half later, I get a message from /u/blackberryroid with keen interest in taking over the design of the sub in order to revitalize it. Realizing that he was a sincere Apple fan, I let him moderate and I decide to sincerely help out.

Unlike many of the brigaders from /r/AndroidMasterRace, I realized that there is some merit to preferring iphones over androids and I respected that opinion, despite being an Android user myself. I wanted to see an Apple Master Race subreddit actually grow and flourish. I was very rattled to see the reaction of fellow Android fans. I thought we were better than that.

As an Android user, I believe it is only fair that I choose not to moderate /r/AppleCircleJerk. With /r/iOSMasterRace, I was the original creator so I felt a certain responsibility to help out the best I could when I was approached with a serious request.

The best of luck to all users and moderators of /r/AppleCircleJerk. And thanks again for your respectful apology. I only hope some of your classiness will rub off on some of the reddit android community.

I never understood brigading on any circlejerk sub. It's a circlejerk sub and is supposed to be fun and not serious. Brigading/spamming it is just ruining other peoples' fun.

Circlejerk subs are supposed to be satire of the real fanboyism/elitism that goes on, which is always unproductive, so I think we are all supposed to be on the same "side" here, no matter if we are regulars of /r/androidmasterrace or /r/applecirclejerk or whatever. It's just that some people take the satire way too seriously... See PC Master Race for example. A lot of people there take it seriously now, while it started because of a joke.

I do Android development for a living and use a Nexus 6, and I have a gaming PC running Windows, but I really like OS X and have a Retina MBP. In fact, I prefer Android development on OS X over Linux. Many of the Google engineers I know also use MacBooks as their work machines, and though most of them have switched to Android phones, some still use iPhones... The truth is that nobody in the real world really cares what platform you prefer. We're all just here to have fun.
