What did they do so wrong exactly? They want to move on to different shit and focus more on mobile because they see that being more profitable. They cancelled a game that probably wasn't anywhere near being finished yet.

Get over it, games are cancelled, not everything works out perfectly as planned.

Obviously they are making changes to be more profitable (on paper) and go in a different direction, but they are also alienating a lot of fans by making this move. The same fans that give Konami money and make them profitable.

It's good for networking and seeing/playing games pre-release, but it's not worth $1k. Anyone with a bit of patience can get in for free anyway, it's not hard to become "press" these days.

IMHO, the best bits of E3 are networking at the parties at night, and seeing all my friends who are in town for the event. Of course this year I'm off to the Mediterranean for two weeks over E3...

Nah lol. Treehouse is part of their digital event where they have folks essentially doing gameplay of the stuff their highlighting at E3. It's awesome and goes all week.

As excited as I am to see what Sony can pull off this year, I'm more anxious to see what Nintendo has up its sleeve. Last year I personally thought they nailed it so I'm hoping Nintendo gives us another solid showing. I own a PS4 and Wii U and in my opinion it's the best combination a (console) gamer can own right now.

I am right there with you about Nintendo. After Splatoon, this year falls rather flat for them, so I really hope they can show off something to get me excited about the rest of the year. Last year they really did kill it, much to the surprise of a lot of people.

I'm really nervous about Nintendo. They have to have something bigger than Mario Maker to main this year and E3. But they've already stated no Zelda at E3, no next gen console, and if I am not mistaken, no Star Fox. But, I feel like they have an ace up their sleeve.

Nintendo will most likely loose this E3 but mark my words, they will come back VERY strong next year. If all the rumors about their new console are true then the 2 way battle between PS4 and Xbox One might turn into a heated 3 way battle. It's also rumored that the NX will unify Nintendos console and handled markets. So it may replace both the 3DS and the Wii-U. The connectivity between the Vita and PS4 might be nothing compared to what Nintendo might do with the NX and their new handheld. Im really looking forward to seeing what they do.

Part of me wants a new Nintendo console and part of me doesn't. I've practically given up on the 3DS after selling my black OG 3DS in order to buy the black N3DS (not the XL) which ended up never making its way to North America. What the actual fuck.

As for the Wii U, I love mine and it has so much potential but I feel as if Nintendo isn't marketing it right. Splatoon's ad campaign in Japan has so far proven highly successful, why not do this for other games and the system as a whole? I still talk to people that don't know what the fuck a Wii U is. I love you Nintendo but it's time to get your game face back on.

I've got a Wii U now and it's nice. But the selection of games is so limited it's hard to say they nailed anything. The biggest announcement was a Zelda last year that won't even be at this year's E3 and (imo) they're going to end up Twilight Princess'ing it and released it on Wii U and NX.

That said, it is nice to be looking forward to a Nintendo direct for a change. I could always get in to their conferences but the directs did nothing for me when I wasn't invested in their console. Nintendo could win E3 2015 for me with two simple announcements:

  1. Mario Galaxy 3
  2. Digital purchases no longer tied to hardware.

To get into E3 you have to be "industry" (or pay lots of money). It's pretty easy to get an industry pass though I believe, you just have to run a blog or have a YouTube channel etc. I know lots of people who are "industry adjacent" that get in.

To go to one of the big press briefings you have to be invited though. And those invites generally go out earlier in the year (I have Sony and MS invites all lined up! :)

The show floor is pretty fun, mostly fun walking around with friends and meeting other friends. I don't stand in lines, and most lines are longer than an hour. To that extent I generally end up seeing a bunch of indie stuff and talking to those devs. If you know people on the right marketing team you can skip the lines (I saw the Witcher 3, Destiny and Garden Warfare floor demos last year, which were awesome).

The press briefings are fantastic. The Sony one is my favourite, they have a whole field of live music, free bars and free food trucks before the conference itself. Delicious!
