Those tags are used to sort different subjects of anatomy for the categories page on the blog, which has sub-categories purely focused on sex characteristics of the body and isn’t referring to gender.
I’m not sure how else I would be able to class these different body types, but I’d be happy to hear any alternatives if it’s causing distress to followers. Also note that this would mean re-tagging all anatomy posts which may take time.
If it’s an art tutorial thing it’s probably generalized anyway. That’s kind of an unwritten tw/disclaimer so nobody has to worry about hurting anyone’s feelings or idek it wasn’t even meant to say anything about people and their identities it was just drawing
Even if it wasn’t meant to say anything, it still says something. We live in a ciscentric society that actively and passively erases non-cis and intersex individuals in literally every aspect of our lives, especially in things like anatomy and art diagrams, where nude models and figures are so often aggressively gendered according to the standards of cis people.
That doesn’t make it excusable or okay, and only continues to tell those communities “we only care about you if it’s convenient”. The only reason that torso was labelled “male” was lack of breasts and the size of the hips. Do you know what that’s usually called when it happens? Transphobic. Cissexist. Take your pick, they’re both disgusting.
And it’s not even about hurt feelings. People who aren’t male get raped, harassed, kicked out, and murdered for having no breasts and narrow hips. Being generalized like this can also cause dysphoria in people, which one isn’t fun, and two can lead to self-harm or suicide.
Generalization like this gets people hurt. That’s what this is about, because if we want things to change and for people to get hurt less, it has to be widespread, and that’s not convenient or easy, but it’s necessary. That’s why I sent the message.
Sexist? Offensive? Mofo, he labeled the male anatomy as male. Don’t drag your mental illnesses into this discussion.
