Here's a corner I'm sure you didn't mean to back yourself into: since African American is the current PC term for Black, the contrast of Standard American English vs. African American Vernacular English suggests there is one for the normals, and one for blacks. This itself is ghettoizing in the original understanding of the the word, restricting and isolating a group. The conflation of blackness (I prefer black, it's more specific) with ghetto speech is why I still have to deal with the tedium of being called 'articulate' and other well-intentioned microaggressions. Further the maintenance of a separate but equal dialect means by definition that cultural transactions of the ghettoized group are limited. Language is the currency of culture, using AAVE in a SAE world is like trying to use Pesos in India. So yeah, ghetto may be a loaded word now, that's happens when the world is full of racists, but it's actually more specific and way less damaging than your suggested alternative.

Actually it's also called a "ghetto accent", in general society, and I don't see what's wrong with that.

The real question is, do people labeled as (or whose families are labeled as) speaking with a "ghetto accent" have a problem with it being called that?

How is calling it "Black English", because it's spoken by a large amount of black people better than calling it "ghetto" because it's spoken by a large amount of people from the ghetto?

It's better because "ghetto" is regularly used as a negative term. When you look on Urban Dictionary, what does it mean? Trashy, unacceptable, broken, jerry-rigged. It's also better not to call it "ghetto accent" because quite a lot of people who speak AAVE don't come from a ghetto ... unless we start defining "ghetto" as "anywhere with a majority black population", which would not be a good choice.

I just find it sketchy that the general reaction to someone having a problem with the word is "downvote; aggressively deny that 'ghetto' has any connection to race in any way".

The person is pretending to tweet from the perspective of a fictional character from Harry Potter. I've never met the guy, but he's clearly using "AAVE" in an over the top way to make a joke because Snape is a (fictional) white guy. OP found his joke to be funny, and posted it with a silly title.

I'm sure you won't concede this point online, but somewhere deep down you must know that the time you spent saying OP's use of the term ghetto is racist was a waste. You know why? Because an avid fan of HP is more likely than not a person who treats every person equally, and all that really matters in life is how you act towards the people around you. Take your talk of 'racially coded word meaning black and bad' elsewhere.
