Not that I don't appreciate the original work in here, but I don't think it's just for original work. It just so happens that a lot of comedians frequent the subreddit to promote. Not that it's a bad thing.

Edit: Just read through the instructions/FAQ on the side bar. Reposts and non-original content are allowed, with some caveats.

In fairness, Frankie Boyle is a Scottish nationalist, who was an active figure during the lead up to the referendum. He's been extremely critical of what was done by Britain in the past and actually got in trouble for (among many other things) a joke in which he referenced former Prime Minister Lloyd George, saying (pretending to answer a telephone) "Hello, Ministry of War, Department of Nigger Bombing"

I think American Sniper is what inspired the joke, but my takeaway from the book/movie is that war is terrible on all sides. Nothing patriotic/"go America!", but focusing on the personal toll war will take on a person regardless of what side they fight for.

As a Navy guy (not die hard Captain America or anything), I really hated seeing any of the destruction my support has caused. I have been aboard ships in the middle east multiple times and sometimes people would show us "liberating" a country and it would really fuck me up for a long while.

I really wish their was an easier way to go to college without mountains of debt.
