Dissecting Liberal Euphemisms (self.Conservative)

Liberals have hijacked the English language and now use flowery terms to paint their adversaries as intolerant. Understanding what they truly mean when they use these words and phrases is paramount to understanding their real goals. I thought I’d list a couple I knew of and hope others will add on as well.

Diversity: Exclusion of white people

Hate Speech: Dissenting opinions

Women’s Health: Abortion

Racism: Unfounded oppression by white people with no actual facts to back it up

The most impressive examples are how they take innocent terms and morph them over time.

"corporation" was just a vanilla word that would fly by your head. Then liberals repeated "evil corporation" enough times that you can't hear "corporation" without thinking "evil". Same goes for "crony capitalism," which isn't capitalism at all.

Somehow the conflation works the other way, too. They've wrangled the word "illegal" out of the discourse on "immigration" to the point that being against illegal immigration is tantamount to hating all foreigners.

Let me add to your list "Reproductive rights": being pro-life means you want to ban birth control pills.

Their control of language through phrases and codewords confounds me year by year. It's definitely not a new thing.

How can we combat this? Can we use the same techniques to our advantage?

Investment in infrastructure: "Money for union jobs and their pensions"

Pro-choice: "I support infanticide"

Gay Rights: "LGBTQ people are exempt from criticism and dissent"

Equality: "A comfortable middle class lifestyle for everybody, regardless of ability and contribution"

Tolerance: "Hatred of white, Christian, American households and values"

Bigotry: "Any criticism no matter the rationale, for any reason, of an idea generally accepted by progressives"

Edit: inequality --> Equality

Should your "Inequality" one say "Equality" instead? Otherwise, I don't understand it.

I've been impressed at how quickly the Left has taken the term "judicial activism", which originally meant to use judicial authority to create new laws, rights, etc., and instead made it mean "to use judicial powers to rule a law unconstitutional".

It seems like focus groups didn't like "judicial activism", but didn't know what it meant. Seizing on that opportunity, the Left made it mean something more favorable to themselves.
