After a hell of a spell of depression and a therapy session where I talked about my issues with Millennials (my own generation, though I'm at the old end), I haven't been able to shake the realization that it's probably never going to get better here, economically.
But the thing that scares me the most is, as people massage their own egos by trying to find more and more symbolic, abstract bullshit to pick out as the problem with our civilization, the big things become less attended to. The class system remains in shambles, but instead of trying to set standards which bring up the lower classes, they demonize privilege---privilege, in most cases, referring to rights and resources we should all have anyway. There's no thought of pragmatically figuring out how to attain prosperity for everyone. It's like they've been convinced it's not even an option.
What do you think it'll take for people to realize this shit's not a game, and that we might never come back from this?
