CLERMONT — A 56-year-old masseuse rubbed an undercover officer the wrong way and was charged with prostitution Thursday, police said.

Suk Hai Corbala, who works at the Seiwa Day Spa on Hatteras Drive, was charged with entering and remaining for the purpose of prostitution, offering to commit prostitution and unlicensed practice of a health care facility. She remains in the Lake County jail in lieu of $4,000 bond.

Capt. Michael McMasters, police spokesman, said they had reason to believe illegal activities were taking place at the location and an investigation was opened.

According to an arrest affidavit, the officer paid $80 for a one-hour massage and was told to remove all of his clothing. After about 30 minutes, the officer said, Corbala touched his private parts and offered to do more for another $60.

She then pulled up her tank top and exposed her breasts before the officer told her he was too nervous to continue, according to the affidavit.

The Florida Department of Health issued a cease and desist order on the business and included the order to all employees at the spa, Officer Michelle Rogers said. The Department of Health was unable to find any license that would allow Corbala to practice massage therapy, she added.

Last March, a 44-year-old masseuse at New Moon Massage on U.S. Highway 27 was charged with offering to commit prostitution and entering or remaining in a structure for the purpose of prostitution. The scenario was the same, with the woman massaging an undercover officer for 30 minutes before allegedly offering additional service.

It is not clear what the spa’s version of the alleged incident is. No one answered the phone there Friday.
