People keep shitting on the Supergirl trailer for showing her as someone super feminine and gasp maybe even insecure and omg more gasp she has interest in men.
I’ve always believed that feminism fights for both females and femininity or feminine expression. There’s this idea that traditionally feminine things are weak and let me tell you, that is an idea that fucks everyone over. It creates toxic masculinity and this idea that girls have to behave in a masculine way to be strong.
Black Widow is very traditionally masculine. Don’t get me wrong, I fucking LOVE Black Widow, but we’ve seen strong women like her before. Pretty much every female action protagonist is like her - emotionless, cold, all dark colours, super independent, etc. And I love this portrayal, but what about diversity in female badasses? Why can’t a female superhero like wearing pink and pretty skirts and working in fashion? Why can’t she be emotional and romantic?? Let me tell you, I would have turned out a hell of a lot less fucked up if I realized that you can be feminist and feminine at the same time.
So basically, long ass rant over, fuck all of ya’ll who keep bitching about Supergirl

gasp maybe some people are shitting on the show because they shit on lesbians within the first trailer and we have a lot of white superheroes and lead white hetero females already who are feminine and conventionally pretty and skinny so maybe we want something different and not a show that resorts to shitting on lesbians for laughs but y’know whatever

^^^^^ also………. literally HOW is black widow masculine AT ALL?? because she wears dark colors??? because she’s independent and thats somehow a very ~masculine~ trait??she’s conventionally beautiful, she’s thin, she always wears makeup, she’s cis, she’s straight, she’s white. the ONLY thing separating her from being Very traditionally feminine is her suit changing color from black to pink.like…. i would LOVE a ‘masculine’ (or rather gender-non-conforming) superhero woman. (even better if she was butch - so a lesbian!) but black widow is SO definitely not that.

op sounds really mad that lesbians voice their opinions about lesbophobic media. it was clear in the first few lines (“omg more gasp she has interest in men”) as if a woman having interest in men has ever been a problem for society to accept
