Promises of Hentai

Something sadly lacking in most subs.

You would be one to notice.

A couple days ago I learned there was a sub for WoW porn. Maybe there's one for LoL too?

to the other mods of any other gaming subs, will you care to join us for popcorn?

99% sure this one is not gonna be worse.

But also 99% sure it's won't last more than that.

I still don't understand why /r/Leagueoflegends has such a boner for Richard Lewis. He's an obnoxious host at tournaments. His journalism must be like...fucking nobel prize worthy to be worth this much drama.

It's actually a bit odd. A lot of the love for him seems to be his ability to get the earliest scoops on transfers. In /r/starcraft years ago, eSports journalists like Slasher were mocked for how much they jumped on scoops like transfers over meatier articles. While I'd argue that Lewis has comparatively had better highlights of his work vs. Slasher, he also puts his foot in his mouth much more than Slasher did.

Slasher got infinitely more shit from the esports community at large too. It's weird.

Like, "fuck slasher" was a maymay.

I still don't understand how slasher drew actual hate from people.

I guess to be fair he got his modern popularity through the sc2 scene, and they're manchildren that hate anyone that isn't totalbiscuit or korean.

[–]Karupika [

Oh TB was hated quite a lot before he owned a team and put money in the scene with tournaments etc. Like when he tried casting in WoL the community gave him so much shit.

Well his casting was legitimately terrible. He was weirdly antagonistic to the players he was casting and his game knowledge was pretty abysmal. I remember one cast he recommended that a Zerg player build Roaches to counter a Terran's Marauders.

[–]Karupika [

you are absolutely right, it was hard to bear. The sad part is, I'm genuinely conviced that SC2 was and is a strong passion to him, he just wasn't able to show that with his casting style and abilities.

I'm gonna assume that's a bad thing... ?

basically terran marauders exist as a unit specifically designed to deal with armored units.

roaches are the base tier 1 armored units for zerg. They're also generally pretty shit units in general vs terran just because they're so supply heavy and most terran unit compositions shit on them.

I gave him shit for his casting and he threw a huge tantrum at me a few times.

I've been baffled by that for awhile. He has had one or two good 'hard news' articles, which is great... but for the most part it's basically him showing off that someone who has early notice of roster changes likes him.

Nothing wrong with that line of work, but it apparently anoints him the messiah of League of Legends by default.

Slasher were mocked for how much they jumped on scoops like transfers over meatier articles

Eeeh, pretty sure that's not why Slasher was disliked. Slasher was disliked because he was a scummy liar, who would publish things without any basis/directly say untrue stuff to get clicks. He was a yellow e-sport journalist.

Richard lewis is an asshole, but what he prints is usually true.

[–]Nyx87WHAT?

From my observance it is that he gets the first drop on big news due to his connections(Such as with Deman which he promptly burned that bridge). I'm not a fan of his writing as it is typically rife with his bias.

Because censorship is BAD, I guess.

And choosing an obnoxious manchild as your paragon of free speech isn't exactly building a strong case.

[–]postironyWarning: may create drama

Should it really surprise you that Richard Lewis is the kind of person League of Legends players would choose as a paragon?

I mean...I believe it but I don't want to believe it. There are just so many better people out there. We barely needed Richard Lewis when he was actually contributing. Now that he's just a professional tantrum thrower he brings literally nothing to the table. Sometimes I think I'm too old for video games.

[–]ghostgnomeONE MORE MOD REJECTED

It was either him or Thorin.

To be fair, at least Thorin doesn't go to anyone who makes the tiniest of criticism and call them retards/failed abortions.

it is more a dislike for the content ban rule than a support of richard lewis

Well if they don't like content bans they should probably pick someone who doesn't exemplify the need for content bans to make their case.

[–]HowDoIWhatisn't sure what's going on [スコア非表示]  (1子コメント)

He's talked a bit regarding the no-moderation thing that the /r/leagueoflegends mods are doing here.

I've never seen his tournament hosting, is it bad? He's never struck me as a great writer, just someone who was really good at finding information early. It probably doesn't help that the LoL scene seems pretty starved for good writing.

[–]Karupika [

He is actually a great host imo, he just did it in the last weeks for SC2 and CS:GO. He can lead a conversation and is a natural talker. He also does some analyzing for some events, but I think he is weaker on that side.

This is why I could never moderate a subreddit. No matter what you do there are going to be shitheads throwing shit at you. You literally cannot win once someone decides to start drama and that sucks.

I have enough problems with my life as is, I don't need someone to ruin my day on the internet

no, his [Richard Lewis'] content is still banned

Then what's the point of this exercise, exactly? You're going moderation free but you're still going to enforce content bans?

That ban is enforced by bots. They're basically saying they aren't going to disable their bots for the week.

[–]LiawuffehMade from real cookies :D [

I mean, to be fair, banned accounts would still be banned, Ongamers would still be banned(Though it's sitewide), so it kinda does make sense for the ban to stay in place.

Why was ongamers banned again? I was here when they got banned but completely missed why.

They were pming users to post their articles. Going so far as to write out the post for them.

[–]LiawuffehMade from real cookies :D [

iirc they were banned due to repeatedly voterigging. They(Mostly Slasher, but also some others) would get around the self promotion rule by asking other people to post ongamers stuff, then upvote it on many accounts.

Man the response to being tired of being a mod should be.... quit and let someone else try.

Not fold your arms, pout, and fuck it up for everyone else.

[–]Nyx87WHAT?

Ooooo that could be the next step! After no moderation week we can have new moderation week/month.

I'm pretty sure that's been ongoing at /r/lol for awhile...

Three new this week, five last month, three the month before...

At this point, I'm surprised they can even get people willing to apply for the position. It's like a revolving door in there.
