Generally when I think of the American culture I think the general melting pot idea, which it is a combination of many other cultures and ideas (including ones of African origin) and is in constant flux.

Unfortunately, because of the very dark history of the country involving African Americans, integration into the culture got off on a really bad start. I do not think even though African-Americans where here since the country's inception that you are automatically part of the culture at least as first class citizens. A good chunk of the country's early history seemed to try and want suppress African culture.

We need to work together fix these cultural and race relations, which unfortunately still seem to exist. Part of that process is having talk openly in a rational manner. I find it concerning that you are so quick attack a professor trying to do just that, although I will admit in a overly blunt manner. I am not saying his claims or correct or justified but you should be attacking those not the professor himself.
