The part that gets me is the guy is probably the one who get's in trouble. "Hey, he doesn't want to participate, let's force him! Oh shit he retaliated, better whine and complain."

They stepped on his arm too

Ehh.. She half stepped on it before finding solid footing on the desk, while s/he reached all the way back and then dropped her. It wasn't just, "You're stepping on my arm, Get off! Shove!", it was, "You stepped on my arm, Fuck you!"

If I was laying on the ground I would have thought, 'you're stepping on my arm, get off'. If I were sitting in the classroom with both my arms on my desk and you manage to step on it? Well yeah, fucking fuck you.

If someone steps on your arm you wouldn't be allowed to push them to the ground then stomp on them right?

The person was no longer on their arm when they were shoved off a desk on to the floor.

Well, one second before she was.. Maybe she first had to process for a second what the fuck was going on, because someone simply doesn't expect this, and then pushed out of reaction. I would've done the same thing.

Ehh...

I might buy that she just reacted in the moment, and just did something she shouldn't have because she didn't have a whole lot of time to process it all.

But so many redditors here seem to think what she did was the right thing. Which it wasn't, at best you can say it's not her fault for doing it.

That's what I said, she stepped on his arm

And what I'm pointing out is that the person retaliated, not protected themself.

Well yeah, he wasn't in danger... the girl was just being an ass and he retaliated, rightfully so

*she

You don't get to potentially paralyze people for being asshats.

Yep and especially because he is a guy and she is a weak girl who did "nothing" wrong.

Pretty sure the person in the grey hoodie is also a girl?

I thought hoodie person was a girl?

She is. You can see that she has boobs.

Yep hooded person is a female. Soooo

Not to derail things but does anyone know what the crosses I'm seeing on Bacon reader after a username mean? I've seen it several times and nobody seems to say anything about it when it pops up.

Well what he did was way worse than what any of them were doing...

So its oke to step on someone's arm? Cool please put your arm on the floor so we can dance on that one as well ;).

My guess is that the fall is a result of someone who wants to have a foot free arm, and that the way the girl landed wasn't the intention of the one who wanted a foot free arm...

It's very clear his arm was completely free while he was shoving her off the desk...

Punishment doesn't fit the crime. At this point, she was a danger to herself from falling, and he made sure she did. Yeah, he shouldn't have to put up with someone walking on his desk, but his pushing her off it could have caused some very serious harm with all those desks and chairs around. If nothing more than a few bruises came of it, then they are both very lucky.

Yeh, whitie need to stop being a pussy and let her step all over his shit.

No, but there are other ways to handle that situation. You do understand this girl could have easily broken her neck if she hit one of those wrong?

Look, his reaction was understandable, I get that. But what he did was also absurdly dangerous.

Well she is taking that risk just standing and walking on the desks. She could have injured herself without anybody's assistance because she was already doing something stupid. People need to think about the consequences of their actions and watch out for themselves when they are doing something that could potentially injure themselves. Is the hooded person innocent? No, but it is not it is not the hooded person's primary responsibility to watch out for dancer's personal safety.

Here's the thing, what could he have done that would have (realistically) worked out well? If he said something or didn't do anything, nothing would have changed (except the girl on the table potentially intentionally continuing just to say "you can't tell me what to do").

Were assuming a shit tonne from a 5 second gif here.

We've made this narrative of this guy who's pushed to far and constantly harassed by entitled people and finally broke and stood up for himself.

Maybe all he had to do was, I don't know tell her "to get the fuck off my desk" it's always good to use your words first.

Grab her foot so she couldn't actually dance, until she moved it back.

Basically he chose the most dangerous thing immediately.

He could have ignored her.

He could have gotten up and sat somewhere else, voicing his displeasure in any number of ways.

He could have sat back and watched them dance.

He could have danced along.

He could have gone to the principal's office and filed a complaint against the teacher and other students, asking to be moved to a different class.

He had many reasonable options that did not involve using violence with a clear intent to physically harm another human being.

Hard to ignore when she steps on his arm and destroys his paperwork.

Simply moving to another place in a room full of people acting like that likely wont help. And you know "please stop, im working" does not work with people who act like that.

Maybe he cares about his education enough to prefer getting work donethan sitting around.

^

Everyone in the class beside him is dicking around, you really think this school has any kind of useful disapline?

I don't see her stepping on his arm. I see him moving it because he's surprised that she stepped right next to it. I see his next reaction as an outburst of violent anger with an intent to hurt her.

Sure, people are dicking around, and I can see how that can be annoying to him. But when someone reacts to annoyances with violence, that's simply wrong.

Why the fuck should s/he move to another desk when s/he isn't the one doing something wrong? That just teaches the idiot dancing that she doesn't have to respect the other student's boundaries.

Fuck her. I hope she broke a rib. Maybe she'd learn not to be a twat. But probably not.

Because sometimes you have to move when people are annoying you or getting in your face. Shoving someone violently is simply NOT OK in the vast majority of confrontations. For example, sometimes people get in your face on the street. Do you shove them violently with an intent to harm them, or do you walk away?

Same thing here - I see anger issues and a very clear motive of "I'm going to hurt you for annoying me". That's wrong and disgusting and not an example of how a well-adjusted member of society behaves.

your right it's her fault that her arm got stepped on! god damn learned people need to learn!

....Because while dancing on tables is stupid and should be punished when you're not at a strip club, potentially paralyzing people is worse.

This is the reason I just started skipping class and takng the truency charges.

Given the nature of offender, RAAACIIIISSSSMMMMM! was called

Sorry this dudes response is violent and disproportionate to what's going on. The girl could potentially be seriously injured from a fall like that, spinal pain for the rest of her life or potentially paralysis. How can you say that's the proper reaction to someone dancing on a desk with their friends?

It would be appropriate if he was prosecuted for battery, and/or sued for reckless endangerment. A jury looking at this video would be hard pressed to acquit him of wrongdoing.
