I'm teaching someone some basic Java and now we're at the part where I have to explain objects and classes. I've tried explaining OOP concepts such as "cat" is a class and Mr. Whiskers is an instance of class cat. She still has trouble understanding it.tl;dr How would you explain OOP to a beginner?
>>48008639kekC-fags are getting rustled because he is realising his /g/-induced anti-OOP hate applies to all imperative languages.
Here...A class is like an architect's blueprint for a house. An object is the house or houses he builds with it.If she doesn't get that, it's time to get back in the kitchen.
>>48008661>doesnt know about ChaikaREEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>>48008330>I've tried explaining OOP concepts such as "cat" is a class and Mr. Whiskers is an instance of class cat. She still has trouble understanding it.It's very simple. One -the class- is the blueprint, it lives on the HDD/SSD.The other -the object- is the constructed house, it lives in RAM.The idea is that you can make many houses off one blueprint if necessary. The difference to real life is that in the object, you can only change things in variables, you can't really add anything new to them directly.
>>48008659Wikipedia defines classes as "a class is an extensible program-code-template for creating objects, providing initial values for state (member variables) and implementations of behavior (member functions, methods).".While structs theoretically allow for "implementations of behaviour", structs do not inherently have "implementations of behaviour". It's more or less a hack.I wouldn't say that all structs are classes, only those with function pointers.
When is the new MacBook Pro 15 inch version coming out, /g/?
>Wanting a MemeBook pro
Who cares? It's rather pointless when it's nowhere near as light as the MBA or as powerful as a proper laptop. How is the new MBA though?
I have BSOD, my OS is on the SSD.I get random freeze and BSOD ( after 1-8 hours of working). After it restarts BIOS doesnt see the SSD, after i power off and turn on , everything is ok, there are no crash reports or dump files
So ,you need a solution for the freezing ssd situation??
That's pretty easy.Your data is corrupted in321.Have fun buying new stuff. Everyone get outta here, SSD is dead./thread
Is there any way of dealing with such a problem ?? On some forums i saw the Power Management incompatibility oroblem for samsung ssd , could this be my case also??
>>48008730>Is there any way of dealing with such a problem ??Yes !!!!!!! It's broken !!!!!!!!!!!>On some forums i saw the Power Management incompatibility oroblem for samsung ssd , could this be my case also??Samsung isn't Corsair !!!!!!!!!!!Do you get it now?

What are the best headphones for Jazz between $300-$200?
Is it possible to pair a Magni 2 and a first gen Modi? And is a DAC even necessary for me and my pair of K702s?

>>48008665That's not how it works. When there's more good coders, the industry expands faster. Everyone does better. There's no shortage of coders, there's a shortage of good coders. If you're in any way half decent at programming you'll have no problem landing a job these days, at any time in the past few decades.
>>48007669>2015>you will never code with karliewhy live
>>48008683
>>48008656>the problem is if as programming becomes available to everyone, then everyone who learns how to program and makes an "app" or whatever, then goes to think they are programmers could do it in a professional environment and that they don't actually need experience or an actual education in the field to know what they are doingThat's already happened. Just ask all the nitwits who learned to "code" html. As for complete tools thinking they're programmers, the industry is full of them. They don't understand proper OO, design patterns, proper database design, best practices, source control, you name it. They think that if it runs, they're professionals.
Hey /g/Looking through the specifications, I can't really find a difference between these two cards. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127850http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127832Same size, same power consumption, same type of memory, same frequencies, etc. So what makes the other $10 more?
>>48008626It's red. And has GAMING in the title. You're paying $10 for MLG cred.
>>48008638Yeah that's what I was afraid of. It has some really weird reviews attached to it too. I mean, technically the first card is more expensive but it's on 'sale' at the moment. Looks like a more solid option as well. Just wondering if I missed anything.
The green one is cheaper because it's ugly as fuck. It's identical to the regular version otherwise, except for the fact that it has a backplate, whilst the normal one doesn't.
>>48008672Anon, do you buy case components for their artistic value?

Drivers can sometimes suck with any hardware, beyond videocards. How long has the driver meme been going on with nerds having issues with ATI/AMD drivers more frequently? Was this going on in 2001 with green team claiming superior drivers?Alternatively share your worst driver experience, doesn't even have to be videocards. With ANYTHING.
>>48007609what this is is a fucking proxy war of ati vs nvidia shills.this is beyond jewrywe're discussing serious business between, if you're a rep, get the fuck out
>>48007267>Drivers that are outdated, poor performing, or will sometimes make your computer BSOD.AMD does this more often.>Having an absolutely catastrophic driver once in a blue moon that will utterly just fuck your card up.Nvidia does this more often.
Neither will have drivers which support any modern OS. People who bought ATI at the end of their lifetime ended up never receiving proper windows 7 drivers.
>>48007267>Alternatively share your worst driver experience, doesn't even have to be videocards. With ANYTHING.>AMD (R7 260x)Broken scaling, driver sometimes breaks when trying to do a dirty update, display driver constantly crashing when trying to make a skype call. Each of them are not a big deal but still annoying. I'm going back to nvidia next time.>Creative (Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium)Oh god this fucking piece of shit. I sold it because of the drivers. Constant bluescreens and disappearing sound.>Wacom tablet driverThere was a bug that took them like 6 months to fix. It was losing one of its settings if you have multi-monitor configuration. Can't think of any more.
>>48007267Latest Nvidia drivers:>they had the streaming to SHIELD feature constantly on, even if you dont have a SHIELD tablet, reducing performance by 5-10%>with the GTA V drivers performance in other games fell 4-6%
With everyone learning to code in school or online how does one stand out if one doesn't have years of experience? By getting a CS degree?
1) Start part time /alongside-work degree2) find company to work at as code monkey / system administration monkey / network monkey whatever is your flavor3) finish degree eventually I am now making € 31k before taxes / 22k after taxes a year without a degree. I will get my BSc in 2 years (We only have 3 year BSc here). I can come and leave whenever I want and take vacations on short notice if I need to study.

You have 10 seconds to come up with a legit reason to use Mac and OS X over a Windows/Linux PC.

To be honest OSX is way better than Windows (including the 10 trainwreck) right now. You'd have to be some sort of faggot to deny this. The only reasons why I still use Windows is because I play a lot of vidya.
"You know things are good when they are absolutely fantastically excellent."- me on KDE 5.x seriesNot desktop thread, just banter about the new KDE with friends. >switched plasma theme from default light to default dark>using default alternate menu That's all ricing I've done and perfectly happy now. >>48008613Of course I expected this, it was more of a useless comment than useful criticism.I just like to have my stuff organized and separated, e.g. by having separated devices like computer and phone.I know this notifications-on-desktop stuff from my Mac OS X and iOS time and with these I also disliked it (at first I thought it's amazing, then I realized it's annoying).
Just installed it, fuck me it's immense. I haven't bothered even checking on how KDE has been doing for literally 7 years, because that's the last time I tried it and I hated it.It is beautiful. I think I've just been converted from Xfce. Maybe.
