Go /p/ro:
• Please post images that are JPG format, smaller than 1 MB, and/or about 1000 pixels on the longest side.
• Expect to be judged harshly. Learn to deal with it.

Want:
• We come here for photos, so post yours as often as possible, even if "image unrelated" to your text.
• "Flickr/500px/Tumblr/Facebook/Portfolio" threads are for critique and networking
• Use "Recent Photos" threads if you are shy or only want to post a couple of photos.
• Shared raw files which we can collectively edit for discussion of post-processing techniques, are encouraged.
• Use the catalog to consolidate similar topics (photographic themes, images or technical gear threads)

Do Not Want:
• Go to >>>/r/ for specific Photoshop requests.
• Gear threads are discouraged, but identified as necessary. Many users simply hide these threads.

Long story short: got this from a friend as a present yesterday, only experience up until now is cheap ass Samsung digital cameras, never even held anything like this in my hands.
Any general guidelines on how to even start with it without going full retard? I shoot a lot, stuff like tanks at military events etc, but I've only been using one-button retardproof shits up until now.

Really nice camera. You're really lucky.
Advice: Go to youtube and start watching videos from FroKnowsPhoto he is good explaining pretty much everything. Not the very best photographer, but he surely knows what he's doing.
And always try to shoot in manual.

the GH4 actually has pretty ugly video, I think if you took away the fact it does 4k nobody would care, and I don't care about 4k so all I see when I look at the GH4 is ugly codec, compression and shitty skin tones.

I'd just get the A7s unless 4k is a complete necessity
>>
Do you teal and orange /vid/ ?
>>
>>2583916
>How is lowlight on GH4?

I have this camera and I love it - but you don't want to go above ISO 800. Not a great low light camera.

You can get around it with super fast lenses, but that costs money.

Considering getting the canon 28mm 1.8 used since most 24's or 35's with similar apertures cost way too much and I'm a poorfag. I'm about to buy a used one for 300 dollars off a friend, convince me why I shouldn't.

I was fooled by Ren Cockwell and bought it.
It's soft as fuck WO and decent at ƒ7.1. Go for anything else.

Will we ever see a pancake lens from Canon that is both 50mm or wider and f/1.8 or faster?

A fast lens for me is all about making it into some pocket, not worrying too much about it and is always there when the lights go down.

Sigma's 24mm f/1.4 seems great, but bulky as well!

Any others like these?

>what is the konica hexanon 40mm 1.8

how do I into gaining the courage to do street photography? I'm not a noob photographer, but I'm currently in a city where the potential for street photography is excellent. I can clearly see the shot. I've let so many shots go by because of my lack of courage. I want to go to the bazaar later but I know I won't have the balls to take pics. I need some encouraging words asap as I'm leaving this city tomorrow. thanks in advance. I Dont have any primes except a macro, the only other lenses on me that I can use are my 18-55mm and 55-200mm.

Everything will be close quarters so I'll be using the 18-55mm but I like the feel of a zoom in street photography.

Part of the, or the problem, is that I stick out as it is since I look different from everyone else, but then to have my camera out will make me stick out even more. I Dont know why it bothers me so much since i was walking around the city yesterday taking pics, just not necessarily of people. I suppose that's why.

One of my major pet peeves when someone shoots with a gun is trigger discipline. Unless your model is supposed to actually be shooting or right about to shoot at the moment the picture is taken, don't let them put their finger on the trigger.. I also don't really get the images. I mean the first one, yeah cheerleader gun and US flag -- ok and? Why is the model's face obscured? Why is she holding the m4 like that? Is she eating ejected shell casings? Then the next one is tits+flag+gun which is pretty much the same as the one before, but less "pure". Why the nose bleed?Anyway, you cut off the end of the muzzle and you're showing whatever purple thing she's wearing around her waist. That said, this one works better because of stronger posing/sensical composition. The broken theater sign is your best, and I really, really don't like what you're doing with the colors in the later pictures.

You're above my level to c&c. I don't see any problems. I would like to see more experimental stuff from you though because I get the feeling that most of what you've posted is fairly comfortable and basic for you and it doesn't really tax you that much.

I thought these were pretty good. I think you are at your best when you capture quick moments with people aware of the camera and you are at your worst when you take pictures of static moments where not much is going on. You posted most of a roll of film. I don't know about other people but I usually get less 10 pictures that are decent and even less from those 10 that I really enjoy.

I have no idea why people in this thread are trying to impose things on your pictures that just aren't there. They are just pictures. Next time really avoid posting so many because they take away from the good ones. You could ask which are better and which are crap. People who say they all suck really are trying to prove something to themselves on the internet. There are always pictures that are better than others in a set.

Good luck stranger. Work on finding more unique moments that say something about your country.

I like these. There's some rule of thirds going on in the ones with people, which is nice. They give me a nice feeling overall. Colors are consistent. Above-average composition. I think you have sufficient knowledge of how to take a good picture, but you don't apply it all the time. Everyone does that. Just sit and think more before pressing the shutter. If you miss a moment, whatever. Don't get too involved ; try to get in that "observer's state" (like when you get your scans back) in the street. It's the hardest part for me.

T-this is the first picture I have ever taken "for the sake of taking a picture".
I kinda randomly stumbled over this board being bored and was quite amazed by the some of the stuff I habe seen here.

Please feel free to point out all the things I did terribly wrong.

Used Ipad btw.
