I remember having a look round this particular aircraft at the RAF Binbrook air display when I was a kid. It was basically incontinent, leaking fuel and hydraulic oil and so on into a dozen or so drip trays - I can still remember the smell

So it's been several weeks since i've posted about painting my truck, but now I am finally to the final primer/painting stage. Sanding took for fucking ever, as well as some rust repair on the roof, but now I'm laying down a base of primer where needed , then moving on to my final base of primer, then of course paint. Now, I have a question as to what paint I should use. I have pondered using Rustoleum, but after putting this much work into I don't want to half-ass it now. So, any of you who have painted a car before, input would be greatly valued. I want to know what kind of paint is best for my situation, how much I should need, and what type of clear coat I should use, and how It needs to be applied. I just really don't want to fuck up two months worth of prep work because I don't have the correct information, because everywhere I've seen on the interwebs, each person has done it differently.
>>12623600Did you use etching primer?
>>12623612No, I didn't go all the way to metal (in most places), and the interwebs said it didn't have to be etching. But this panel is pretty much all I've primered so if it is necessary then no big deal.

What are the benefits/drawbacks of pull door handles vs. lift ones? When and why did they change? Also, general doorhandle thread

Is it possible to make a Morris Minor fun to drive? They used to race them back in the day.
>>12624872Probably. If you like simplicity and feeling like you're on the ragged edge when taking a corner at 30, they probably already are, although I don't think they handle half as well as the Minis of this world. If not, there's always 'busa swaps...

Ok you cunts lets play a game. You've decided to do the mongol rally. But you need a car.Rules state the engine must be under 1.0l, and the car must be under £1000 or some shit like that.Exceptions can be made up to 1.2lWhat piece of shit do you choose?
>>12620964So imagine the economy of a 0.9L 700KG shitbox at comparable RPM, when my 1.5L 1000KG shitbox was getting 15mpg
>>12621092>700KGNot with the needed equipment for the rally.
>>12621103Strip the interior to lose 70-100KGs then add in the fuel tanks, radios, food, etc, probably adds it back up to maybe 900KG
>>12621129Tyers, camping equipment, tools and spare parts and recovery gear will be your biggest weight gain.

Pickup conversions never fail to amaze.
HSV GTS vs A45 AMGBoth cost about the same, which would you pick?
>>12624775Are you seriously putting a dual clutch as a positive against a conventional? Protip: they suck being used in traffic and their long term reliability is extremely suspect.I think you'll find "in the real world", the HSV is quicker, especially if your AMG is spending time in the shop with transmission problems from trying to launch hard too many times. Especially when your transmission is spending a few seconds to get it's shit together and gears in when you want to fukken GO.When AWD is brought into a performance equation, clutches and transmissions are at risk because theire so much grip from 4 tyres is puts stress on components when the wheels don't slip. I learned this from Evo owners fucking said components up by launching hard without using the handbrake. Basically like a manual launch control, it's possible to reduce stress on components this way. But who can be bothered doing that all the time?
>>12624824Plus more low down torque, I just looked it up and seen the AMG has better mid and high range delivery. Once again, you could bring up AWD but I think that's just stupid
>>12624766The Holden, I guess, for muh v8. but I can't say I'm massively drawn to either. If I was buying a new sports car at that price point, it'd probably be a Lotus.
>>12624824in his defense merecedes really knows how to make a good dual clutchnot like they come with stick shifts anyway...>Especially when your transmission is spending a few seconds to get it's shit together and gears in when you want to fukken GOits a pussy flap DCT, not a torque converter from the 70s
>>12624819get a dog up ya cunt
>If you can't pull up to a gas station and strike up a conversation with your fellow man over your car, what are you doing?
>>12624705Gas station attendants are no longer dependent on helping you pump your car.
>>12624705I can and do often though. I really hate it when a woman is in a nice car though because they NEVER have any interest in it whatsoever. Women are always coming into my work pulling up in E63's and even once an old 911 Turbo, not one of them was remotely interested in talking about their cars. Driving a V8 muscle sedan when you have as much interest in cars as I have in sewing is just an obnoxious thing to do.
>>12624820Also, the friendliest people on the roads by far are the ones in British roadsters/sports cars. One time I did meet an older guy in a Rolls Royce Ghost who was over the moon that I engaged him in car talk.
>>12624705Finnegan quote
Alright /o/, I'm selling my Lightning because it isn't worth a damn as a commuter vehicle and I was wondering if anybody could suggest something better than pic related.I'm thinking I can pick one up for around 15k with around 50,000 or 60,000 miles. Yes I've looked at the sticky and no I won't buy something fucking boring.>inb4 buy a miata
>>1262479216k will buy you a Focus SE hatch with 5 speed, not a base. Won't have MyFord Touch, but that system is shitty anyway. Do you think MSRP is what you'll actually be paying? it's only half a second slower to 60 and about a second in the quarter than the Fiesta ST. That's not enough if a difference to make one more exciting than the other. They actually handle very well in fact.
>>12624841I understand the amount of incentives that are offered nowadays, but my reason for starting this thread was to see if anyone agreed that I could buy a use FiST for around 15k and drive it to 200,000 or more miles.
>>12624841Should say that I got my Focus for $16.5k( after ttax/tag/title) It is an SE with winter weather package and block heater which was an extra $500. So yeah, that's not base( but not titanium either) for $16k out the door. But no go ahead and spend the same money for something with 50k on it that's smaller and less practical, and only fractionally faster. The Fiesta ST does gave better than a Focus, yes, but not ridiculously so. I drove the Fiesta ST and Focus ST before I came to my senses as realized it's just an econobox.
>>12624852Yes, you can( maybe), but the question is why would you want to?
>>12624853>does gave betterdoes handle better*
