>>12598479It would have attracted more people if there was fanservice. It didn't have really any and focused mostly on the story and character growth which most shows today are scared to do.
>>12598494I give her a pass TO AN EXTENT. I understand WHY she's fucked up but at the end of the day she was still responsible for making sure Shinji and later Asuka got the proper moral and adult guidance they needed. And she screwed the pooch hard.
>>12598521Goddammit you people keep focusing on boogeymen buzzwords like "Fanservice", "moe", "pandering" in lieu of an actual argument and it's getting old real quick, especially when it's in the form of blatantly incorrect blanket generalizationsQuit trying to make your special snowflake series seem like it only failed because it "dared to be different" or some such nonsense - it failed because it did not deliver anything that an audience found interesting, that's all. And that's it's own fault, no one else's.Every show needs to offer something that will keep an audience coming back for more, and there are infinite ways of going about it. Compelling character drama, a riveting narrative, a mystery, action that satisfies, etc. Something, it doesn't matter what, that keeps people curious. And M3's issue is that it did find it's footing and delivered a compelling character drama and mystery, But it held off on them for too long and turned off the majority of potential viewers. Those that stayed got a good show out of it, but you can't blame the people who dropped it for losing interest in a borefest. Lastly, don't be fucking ignorant. Fanservice has always been a hallmark of anime, and you're deluded to think it wasn't just a prevalent in the past as it is now. It's just wearing a new coat of paint.
>>12598586Mystery and suspense take time to build up. You can't just rush everything out the gate in one episode and expect it to have any meaning. There's absolutely nothing wrong with a slower pace. Especially when shit is actually being built up too, and actual relationships are developed and formed. It didn't hold off on anything, because all that slow stuff at the start really came to a head in a major way in the end and the show was better for it.You're only kidding yourself if you think people these days don't have short as fuck attention spans, and it's a shame because it really does seem like no one can pick up on any characterization that isn't a loud declaration with jpop blasting in the background
I started watching A/Z (just finished episode 5) for her . Annoyingly enough, she is a supporting chara through and through. On the plus side, I want to fertilize Yuki-nee's eggs and Inaho's tactics to overcome the Martian Cataphracts are quite cerebral andentertaining. When does it become bad?
>>12595680I give this anon until Inaho returns with iNaho(the robot eye). >>12595466He was claiming it, to throw it all away in the end....the biggest irony is that this show tried to be epic, but it ultimately ends up being worthless due to the writers being opposed to the use of well-established Gundam tropes. Seriously, I wouldn't have minded Slaine as MC had they let Seylum and Inaho die. At least they would've focused on him instead of building him up, then crashing him
OP here, I just finished S1 (ep 12). I don't really dislike it so far, but maybe I have an exceptionally high bullshit tolerance. Then again, I didn't come into it with high hopes, I just wanted to have something to look at while I built a Takemi.
>>12598699Or maybe your tastes are just shit.
>>12598707Maybe. I feel like watchin Gundam SEED again, there were some good bits in it. I liked that scene where Cagalli launched off Orb and her dad blew the orbital elevator to spite the Earthicans.
>>12598731>>12598699Definitely shit taste.

Shit tires you out. Nobody likes being tired, and if there's a vehicle you can stick it on while you ride on it, so much the better.Besides, the flat surfaces on armored vehicles are because armor plates come in big slabs, nobody will detail them unnecessarily when any hit that actually requires their protection will rip them off anyway.

>>12596617There are three OVA episodes that recap the whole series and make the ending a bit tighter. You miss a lot of the story and action though, it's more like a quick refresher for people who have already watched it.
Is it a cold war anime? Please tell me, I don't want to be surprise-asslbasted.
>>12598617It is very much an anime produced during the cold war although a lot of it hearkens back to ww2 as well
>>12596982I thought Eiji's UNDERSTANDING was annoying at first, but it toned down as the show went along. OP, in my opinion it's a pretty damn good show and worth a watch. You can appreciate certain parts more if you like FotNS.

>An extensive retool of MG RX-78-2 with an entire new sculpt>Somehow P-Bandai>A shitty red 2.0 RX-78-2 with few retooled parts>Somehow normal releaseThis P-Bandai shit is getting so out of hand it's ridiculous. Originally it was meant for recolors, but now that there are kits that are half new molds, it literally makes no sense from a development standpoint to not release these on the wide market. Is P-Bandai selling that well that they could recoup the costs of these steel molds with ease?
>>12598352
>>12598352Thing is it's not just plates that are an expense - the plastic, the packaging, and the promotion all factor in, and if they go all the way through all that just to put kits on shelves to rot, they've spent even more money to not get much back. At least in the case of P-Bandai they have tighter control on the production run versus how many orders they have.Though I'm curious what will happen when/if they start doing this via 3D printing. Shit could get REALLY obscure.

I think I'm burning out on this game. All my pilots are SSRs or SR++, as are my TSFs, I have 15 million OP and I am not motivated to grind any more. The only way to get better is to train up SSR++ things and the only reliable way to get those is to become a buyfag.I guess it's a good thing I'm building a model Takemi instead.
>>12598709only 15 million OP,not all SSR++ pilots or TSFc'mon you can do better
>>12598730Well, I haven't really been trying. Plus, SSRs come from the gachas and events, and I only really want to give a fuck for characters I like. SR++ pilots and TSFs are dirt common nowadays with all the events.Plus, I have shit luck with gachas, I'm not like those people who get 3 SSRs within 100 tickets.

What should you look out for when going from silver tier to gold tier? The skill difference is jarring, to say the least, when you're easily making top 5 in silver, and suddenly barely scraping by in gold.
>>12598307You should look for a jarring difference in skill, to put it simply. Gold players are the players that know all the right moves and make all the right choices. It's just a matter of skill, and you'll learn to adapt in time.

Gundam has been in existence for 26 years, and as a franchise it has be made with so many different styles of animation. At the end of the day, i'm here to watch animation. Sappy stories and tragic twists of fate give context to the mecha action, but when it comes to Gundam, the mecha action alone should be able to carry a series. So why is it that 0083 is vilified when it looks downright gorgeous. I realize its weaknesses>Nina is a bitch>Kou is somehow an even bigger bitch>muh ideals>shoehorning a conflict in between MSG and Zeta>level of technology more advanced than zetaThese are all things that 0083 flops on, and there are more, but why aren't we focusing on the three toned shading, the fluid mecha animation, and the silly awesome explosions? Instead of moody teenagers falling into a cockpit, there are actual military personnel doing their actual jobs. Best of all, the protagonists lose every single battle. It's almost comical how much destruction they cause, while failing to accomplish their mission, or in most cases unwittingly fuck up the Federation's plans to win the conflict. If you haven't watched F91 or 0083 because of naysayers, fucken watch them because they are both animated beautifully.
>>12598491I don't remember that practice duel.
>>12598499If you watched the movie, it cut out a lot of stuff. That practice fight took place at the beginning of episode 8 of the OVA.
>>12598512Nah I watched the OVA, just forgot that fight.
>>12598520You haven't watched the series enough times.
I used to hate the GP01Fb, but now I really like it. It just feels like it could be agile.
You should read Shin Getter Robo before Getter Robo Go. It doesn't matter what the publication order is. It gives important information that was added to help you better undertstand the events that lead up to Getter Robo Go. You will not know where Benkei or Saotome is or why Ryoma is in the mountains. And it was added after Ishikawa had a discussion with his editor, who suggested adding some extra volumes to bridge the gap.Getter Robo > G > Shin > Go > Ah > (ignore Hien)This is the 真 way to read the "Getter Robo Saga"
>Yokoyama>Ishikawa>bad
>>12595280It says "Aku" in the middle line, yes. It's should still be written Āḥ in English, since that's the ACCEPTED TRANSLITERATION OF THE SIDDHAM CHARACTER. HOW SIMPLE DO I HAVE TO MAKE THIS?HERE'S MY QUESTION FOR YOU, SEI BELLO GROSSO:DO YOU CALL THE MANGA GETTA ROBO?NO? WHY?YOU CALL IT GETTER ROBO INSTEAD? BUT WHERE DOES THE 'R' COME FROM I WONDER? WHY AREN'T YOU BEING FAITHFUL TO THE ORIGINAL ゲッター AND WRITING IT AS "GETTA"?Let's hear your answer, Patrizio. I'm sure it'll be measured, logical and comprehensize.
>>12589106I agree with you. The human artstyle is repulsive and the writing soon follows suit
>>12589695>Even when newer stuff retcons older works into nonexistence Especially then, you fool! You can't just forget everything an original work has to offer just because something new comes out.Perfect example: Farewell to Space Battleship Yamato (1978) is one of the most influential pieces of Japanese animation and a bloody good movie. If you were to skip it because it's "not canon" you'd have gone full retard and that's something you should never go.
>>12595537Looks like the prologue was drawn by another man. The art is completely different.

Hey /m/. Has anyone here played Heavy Gear assault? Is it any good? Also Heavy gear thread
>>12594450You are a lifesaver anon. I still have my HG2 disc and couldn't find a working install guide last year.
>>12594410It's shit. Originally, it was supposed to be a series about conflicts between the North and South, with the two sides then joining forces to fight the threat from Earth. Tim Eldred, the biggest-name western VOTOMS fan, was attached to it at one point. However, the network didn't want another war series after having done Starship Troopers: Roughnecks, so we ended up with a mecha version of Wacky Races with the Northerners as Dick Dastardly who cheat in every single episode. The tabletop RPG salvaged the situation by saying that the series exists in-universe as Southern propaganda.
>>12596094The TV series could have been saved if it had been more like Pokemon -- every episode, the protagonists travel to a new city, meet new characters and help solve their problems in addition to the customary encounter with their rivals. But it would have required making a lot of new assets with every episode, so this approach would probably have required too much effort for a CGI tv series.
I really like the universe and I hope it turns out well. I have so many HG minis that I never built because all my friends stopped being interested in it, but I hope it does well.
So instead of trying to find that missing disc, I went and pulled out my HG1 copy and installed it on Windows 7.Menu colours are all messed up in that way you get with old games, but the game itself runs fine. Except that I don't think I remember the animations being this hilariously fast? And since we're getting old /m/ games to run, anyone got any idea how to get pic related working? (I think I tried dos box when I originally bought it, but I ain't very good... at anything)
ITT /m/ themed VN related materialI really appreciate the ideas, writing and drawings submitted. I look forward to the creation of a such a game fashioned in a mecha setting with some fun in the mix. We have characters, plenty remaining that need established and more concept work. There will be an order to introduction based by importance. We also have plenty of mecha and their development in various sizes. Everything seems to fit nicely for an industrial feeling and the transition in tech should be interesting to see. I really enjoy the more organic mecha you will encounter, so as always submitted works will need elaboration for special features or purposes. The last key detail to our story is in its entirety is the setting and general plot. I would like to use this thread for rich scenarios that may take place aboard the CSS Via Argentum former fleet ship not purposed for more residential and training drill purposes. So once more I ask all you reader, writer and drawfriends alike, let's build this mothership from the ground up. space whales when?Ideas Info and BiosComment too long. >>12598261Noted.
>>12598261Personally I was thinking that if DaiBarion/Obarion is the perfect/harem ending instead of engie route then it would be the only one to actually end the war (or whatever the objective is). All other single-girl "good" or "true" endings end up with you're waifu's mecha doing a damn good job but it doesn't cut it and ultimately you are forced into some feels because... lovable innocent X and awesome bro Y die/crew members sacrifice themselves to save you and your girl/crew is forced to make the utilitarian decision and let civvies die to complete objective/etc. only to achieve a strained cease-fire situation and hope for the future. Only after you have completed every main girl's route can you unlock secret Obari route (it would probably be fuckhuge like in that scale drawing rather than intended size because it's the endgame of all mecha technology) and, after choosing every response oh-so-carefully, your entire harem joins and pilots a part. It doesn't even have to combine, just have a megazord cockpit. Thanks to your combined powers, you don't just stop the fighting, you dispose of the corrupted officials and bring lasting peace through UNDERSTANDING (and fear of Obarion). The new world is not free of problems (cue harem antics) but everyone gets a happy ending, even the side characters. ESPECIALLY the side characters. At this point you would unlock the secret routes like alien princess and AI girl. This is just expanding upon what >>12589221 said while doing the opposite of what >>12591917 said although that's still a really cool idea for engie route. I'm very tired so this might sound really crappy, I apologize.
>>12598609normal sized mecha can be fearsome like V2 or G-self. besides i intended Obarion to be small sized because it use endgame tech where everything is compact but powerful and also to twist super robot tropes (it does not combine, the shoulder weapon is for close combat, sword is a long range boomerang)
>>12598626Miniaturized mobile suits are pretty ass-kicking for sure, but if the super robot is lined up right next to the others it might look a bit dinky. If they are never shown back-to-back then it can keep its pride and still reverse the trope, unless specifically making it look really really small is the idea, not just having it smaller in statistics. In any case the design sounds awesome and I like the ideas. How the heck do the pile bunkers work if they're so thin and shoulder-mounted?
>>12598626>How the heck do the pile bunkers work if they're so thin and shoulder-mounted?it sole purpose is to penetrate otherworldly armor or large energy fields, the "needle" will transfers the pure energy and detonate it from the inside.
