Welcome to /k/, 4chan's weapons board. Our board centers around weapons, armor, and other myriad military technology. While guns are the primary topic, threads involving any other sort of weapons, from swords and knives to tanks and jet fighters, come up frequently as well. If you're new, we suggest reading the sticky at http://amagicalplace.wikia.com/wiki/Sticky to get acquainted with the board's subject matter. Before posting a thread, please check our catalog to ensure that a thread about the same topic does not already exist.>>>/k/catalog
Hey /k/ Show us some cool Special ForcesI'll start with the Danish Frogmen.

dearest american /k/,have a seat. You may own weapons without any oversight, checks, regulations, licenses, fees, or any interference of any kind from anyone. FFLs are totally unnecessary, not lawfully required, and if they, and their restrictions and fees and regulations and consequences are presented as such (that is, lawfully required), it's fraud (aka a lie).https://supreme.justia.com/cases/federal/us/521/898/1. The Brady Act's interim provision commanding CLEOs to conduct background checks, § 922(s)(2), is unconstitutional. Extinguished with it is the duty implicit in the background-check requirement that the CLEO accept completed handgun-applicant statements (Brady Forms) from firearms dealers, §§ 922(s)(I)(A)(i)(III) and (IV). >>25830369Everyone is trying to murder is. What exactly is Google doing. Or are you talking snot the captcha? Anyways carry on, just know that none of this matters because for every case supporting you there is another that can be used against you, because our legal system is funky and the only way to change it is armed revolution which no one is quite ready for because very few people are actually affected in a meaningful way by it.

This just in! Another Iranian attack on a tanker, this time Singaporean flagged. Are they purposefully trying to kill that nuke deal, or does their navy just want to be curbstomped again? http://www.aljazeera.com/news/2015/05/iran-navy-fires-warning-shots-oil-tanker-gulf-150514153841824.htmlAlso, what news of the hospital and Najran (I think that's the name of that border town iirc)?Pic unrelated

Hey I have been hunting some deer with my mate and have been using one of his rifles (only have a .22 for rabbit hunting right now) and am thinking of upgrading to a .308 . Any suggestions ?

Wouldn't it have been better if the US army field the M1 carbine as their main weapon in WW2 instead of M1 Garand?
No/thread
>>25830236Why not?More capacity, lighter, smaller bullet so you can carry more.
>The M1, M2, and M3 carbine all saw service during the Korean War, although the M2 armed the majority of U.S. Army and Marine units deployed there.[25] In Korea, all versions of the carbine soon acquired a widespread reputation among both soldiers and Marines for jamming in extreme cold weather conditions,[26][27][28] this being eventually traced to inadequate recoil impulse and weak return springs.[29][30] A 1951 official U.S. Army evaluation of scores of individual after-action combat reports for all small arms usage in Korea by the Eighth Army from 1 November 1950 to 1 March 1951 documented the weapon's cold-weather shortcomings, as well as noting complaints from individual soldiers that the carbine bullet failed to stop heavily clothed[31][32][33][34] or gear-laden[35][36][37] North Korean and Chinese (PVA) troops at close range after multiple hits.[27][29][38] Soldiers reported that their "reaction to the weapons family was almost universally to the point that what they have is good and adequate to the tactical need...The one exception was the carbine. One company in the 38th Infantry Regiment expressed its satisfaction with this weapon; but it was alone in the Eighth Army. In all other units, bad experience in battle had made troops shy of this weapon."[39] Marines of the 1st Marine Division also reported instances of carbine bullets failing to stop enemy soldiers, and some units issued standing orders for carbine users to aim for the head.[40][41] Ironically, PVA infantry forces who had been issued captured U.S. small arms disliked the carbine for the same reason.[42]
Tanker garand would have been perfect.

>>25818919I was truck driver 10 years ago, after dropping out of university. Was shipping things into Russia, and it quickly turned out not all transported wares were legal. On way I would met our "business partners" that would direct me to "protected" parking loot. There they would unload illegal stuff, while I was chilling out in bar and brothel.Anycase, I sit in bar, stuck with my guardian angel. Beign /k/ I couldn't help but notice most of his clothes are elements of Russian Army uniform. Turns out he does so, because he's proud of his service, so I ask him for stories. This one I got after few shots.>be peacekeeping in Chechnya>sweep of village for illegal weapons in cooperation with Chechen police.>police turns over houses, while soldiers hold roads into village, looking for (expected) troubles>suddenly gunshots in village>few teams sent to direction of shot ready for the worst>it's worse than worst>they find dead girl and older woman (possibly her mother)>Chechen policemen are fucking dead girl>when asked what the actual fuck, they respond "still warm, brother">after returning, they report it to commander>it's signed off as "resisting arrest">He ends story with "fuck Chechens, we should just nuke them, or gas them, just to others to be safe"

Why doesn't the military do field commissions anymore? Why does some pencil neck computer science major who went through OCS have seniority over a medal of honor recipient with multiple tours?
>>25824758I think until like the 60's, there were ranks like Specialist all the way up to E-9. I don't know about bringing them back, as that would add confusion, but what you're saying about expanding the Warrant Officer corps is extremely important beyond expanding the level of skill in the Armed Forces.Think of jobs in Military Engineering that would be so much better suited if E-9s with 20 years of bridge building experience were out in the field instead of pushing paper and following an O-6 around. He doesn't have the option and the Army is robbed of an expert. If we could expand the Warrant Officer corps, the 12X (or any other MOS field) E-9 would be free to focus on troop welfare and the CWO-4 could act as a real foreman.Aside from adding skill to the field, I bet retention would be better. Rather than having to worry about the stress of promotion points and random bureaucratic BS if you didn't want to, you could try to become Mr. WO and keep doing the job you signed up to do. The extremely valuable men responsible for the welfare of the Enlisted Corps would still be there, and so now would we be able to keep the men who do not give a flying fuck about enforcing 670-1 regs. It's like the genius inventor who needs a COO. We could keep our genius inventors and the men who wanted to be COOs could keep on the path. The third way that I see this being useful is that IF....IF someone would come to the head of the DOD that had balls and actually cared about the nation, we could reduce our dependence on military contractors because we'd actually have the specialists we need in the fields we need them. Rather than taking a man getting to the prime of his field and then telling him ne needs to be like a Dad, he could continue to learn about the field and be a technical leader. The country could save literally billions. No more $40 hammers and $500 toilets, assholes.Maybe my example wasn't articulated perfectly, but I hope you can get what I'm saying.
>>25823527This. I met an Air Force Major that was prior enlisted Army Infantry. Ditto for an LTC I worked under.
>>25828645An SF Warrant acts as an SF SME and assistant team leader. Prior to the 80's the assistant TL would have been a 1st Lieutenant.
