The backplate was pretty cool and kudos for sticking to the theme but the bottom part was pretty fucking useless, also I like how he cablecombed right up until the bottom compartment and then it went right into a rats nest. He never really done a lot with the case either which is a shame considering how many specialized tools he had access to.

ya i know what you mean. I'm still running piss quality monitors on my main computer, so whatever it not a big deal for me, does anyone know if i would be at an advantage of running two video cards in non crossfire, for two displays, rather than one off the integrated, and the other from a discreet? i suspect i would....... the cards are not crossfire compatable...
>>
>>48007405

You want to have 2 cards not in x-fire?
there's no advantage to that apart from having access to more inputs and maybe mining. What's the 2nd card going to be driving? your desktop?

I'm teaching someone some basic Java and now we're at the part where I have to explain objects and classes. I've tried explaining OOP concepts such as "cat" is a class and Mr. Whiskers is an instance of class cat. She still has trouble understanding it.

tl;dr How would you explain OOP to a beginner?

>OOP is not a fundamental CS concept.
It's still an important one though. If you can't even grasp that you're literally fucked.
>>
>>48008602
Yes they are actually. They are compound types, and that's the very definition of a class.

Deal with it.
>>
>She still has trouble understanding it.
>She

There's your problem.
>>
>>48008518

The idea is that I don't think adding methods is necessary to explain the class concept, or the difference between a class and an instance of a class. It just serves to complicate things and can be effortlessly introduced later without having to contradict previously learned concepts.
>>
>>48008330
Huh.
Start with some ASM. Then show her what classes and classes instance are for the machine, teach her pointers, vtables and all that shit, it's easy.

I never bought any Windows license.

That being said, I've got an MSDNAA account, because i'm not a pleb.

So I will get a legit and clean copy of Windows 10 that way :)

It will be for my gaming rig.

My laptop will stay under W7 and Linux until 2020.

Hey /g/

Looking through the specifications, I can't really find a difference between these two cards.

Same size, same power consumption, same type of memory, same frequencies, etc. So what makes the other $10 more?

did you supply a seed?
>>
>>48008558
I call Randomize() at the beginning of main which seeds from the random device.
>>
>>48008572
do you have a random device?
>>
>>48008581
>std::random_device may be implemented in terms of an implementation-defined pseudo-random number engine if a non-deterministic source (e.g. a hardware device) is not available to the implementation. In this case each std::random_device object may generate the same number sequence.
Fuck, I guess not, do I seed it with time then?
>>
>>48008607
if you're on linux you can use /dev/urandom else time is okay but very predictable. you could just ask the user to supply some random input.
though unless you're actually writing something that needs as random numbers as it can get time is probably good enough.

Let's say I use C and make a char array of length 100, and then use scanf to read in a string of the length 50. Would it automatically add a null terminator after the 50th element, or at the 100th element, or not at all?
I want to iterate through the string afterwards and I would stop at the appearance of the null terminator. So that's something I need to know

they have LOWER clocks and the same amount of cache as i7s.
>>
>>48008476
To be fair, if you want a quad-core with hyperthreading, a xeon e3 will be cheaper than an i7, even if it does come with slightly lower clocks. Of course, since they're based on the same die, they do come with graphics which may or may not be disabled depending on the model.
>>
>>48007556
likely 10%. That's about the difference between skylake and haswell.
