Is it really necessary though? The main reason English classes exist for people is so they can appear smarter in front of employers and have higher quality discussions with other people about social stuff. It looks like he is not interested in that sort of thing because he is independent enough.

English (or whatever language you speak) is one of the most important subjects to study. You may have great ideas but if you fail to communicate them properly well then they're almost useless

Obviously he's so ahead of our time he's already speaking Neo-English, which means his "mistake" is actually correct vernacular.

Liberal arts classes are incredibly important. English included.

I'm still doubtful of that, if they're necessary for absolutely everyone. If one is smart enough to have free time to engross themselves in a large variety and depth of knowledge, then this person can be smart enough to learn those liberal arts and English skills on their own, judged as needed according to themselves. Instead of spending time, sitting in class, waiting for everyone to catch up.

Edit: heh, but then I write this comment, and I'm not even sure anymore.

Maybe some day the education system will be dynamic enough where it can appeal to everyone's nature of learning. I figure that with technology, this will happen as procedures become more automated.

Yeah, it is. It shows that people are capable of communicating their own ideas effectively, which is absolutely required if you want to be recognized and/or make any money.

A huge amount amount of English isn't just learning grammatical technicalities, it's about learning how to process and analyze meaning, and order your own thoughts in a logical way so that they can be conveyed to others and be better understood internally. Even if you are the most antisocial person in the world, these skills have benefits for the individual that I'd argue outrank anything else taught in schools.

I have to disagree with you on that, if you're talking about internally. I'm not saying I'm that guy in the OP, but I put in the effort to understand English class and eventually realized that what everyone else was constantly realizes through the books and discussions, were things I had understood long ago. Sort of frustrating but oh well.

Maybe you have a point about the thoughts and discussion. But even so, these people can be smart enough eventually figure all that on their own too. They only reach their limits once they commit more to a social adventure, which is lacking with someone that is extremely antisocial. Or maybe even that antisocial person will eventually get bored and come to terms and decide to do something else. In that case, it may have been useful to learn about these things in high school. But even then, if they've been spending their whole life studying and doing whatever they like, I'm sure they could read a few books about how to be social and have orderly discussion.

Edit: heh, but then I write this comment, and I'm not even sure anymore.

I mean, it feels almost pointless talking about this, since the person in the OP is so unique, but I just wanted to make a point for people not to judge people submitted to this subreddit that are different. Because once the smallest people are criticized, other new redditors (aka newfags) or SJWs join in and start criticizing more people, and suddenly it's ok to start judging everyone because it becomes the culture of the subreddit. So the subreddit becomes toxic and the community becomes even more circlejerking and shitty, even in real life.

In another comment I said this:

What originally begins as a joke will start to be taken seriously by people who weren't invited in the joke in the first place. It is the sake of all memes, except for the ones that are so deeply, emotionally popular, or too obscure through an old user base.
