Nice ellipses. I take it you don't understand their problems with it, but more and more people are realizing how unnecessary, archaic and brutal it can be. I wouldn't have consented to mine and consider it genital mutilation.

i mean isn't that the case for all decisions that parents make for their kids? should parents not be allowed to vaccinate their kids because their kids don't consent? that's a weak argument if you ask me.

Uhm, vaccinations might potentially save the child's life, as well as other lives from being unable to spread a disease. Not really the same deal with foreskin

there are plenty of side effects too (fyi: i'm a full supporter of vaccines).

replace vaccines with any tough decision:

  • getting surgery vs. taking medication

  • public vs. private school

  • any other medical issue

Not really the same deal with foreskin

sure, its not the same. but circumcision does reduce the risk of many STIs.

Except all of those decisions are only made because of immediate medical necessity. Circumcision is not.

there are plenty of decisions made by parents of kids that are not out of immediate medical necessity. a parent makes every medical decision for their kids. every. single. one. and not all require immediate attention.

Male genital cutting as practiced in the US removes the most sexually sensitive parts of the penis, destroys its gliding mechanism and dries out the glans.

I can understand why he's upset.

I'm not taking a stand, I just found the protest strange and wanted to share it here.

Meanwhile: Earth is being destroyed, the city is going bankrupt, the state is falling to pieces, ISIS controls Iraq and Syria, bombs are falling in Yemen, Ukraine is being ripped apart, el nino, the rich are getting richer, the poor are becoming poorer, population, food security, aliens, comets, volcanoes, ravenous bears roam the city streets.... No, let's talk about penises.

True, but isn't it cool how different people have different priorities they choose to take stands on? The diversity of issues that need to progress in the world are almost endless, but luckily there are motivated people on all sides of all the issues to help encourage debate.

Yeah - sometimes these people can be absurdly annoying, but people taking stands on things is what moves the country forward (or prevents it from moving). These people help educate the public and when one finally strikes a chord with the public it can really get traction. Nothing progresses without people like this, even if their issue seems miniscule to us in the grand scheme of things.
