yeah, but does he actually care or is he just good at PR? every discussion of DL is still some variant of "he fucked X and Y up, but he's still THE BEST ADC IN NA." easy to admit your mistakes when you're never held accountable for them. if Link (or anyone else to ever play for CLG) fucks up, that's it in the eyes of the community, there's nothing else to fall back on. no one ever said anything bad about Xmithie last split, then he misses a sej ult and reddit demands he get kicked. what happened when DL valked over TSM to his death? oh yeah, nothing.

but never in a serious manner. it's always been clear who wears the pants in CLG. mind, I'm not asking for reddit to be even more circle-jerky--the hell that would be--just pointing out that it's very easy to publicly apologize over and over when you know it doesn't matter one way or the other. I mean here he is with Xmithie's back during a response to he himself being called out, but where was double during the last two months, when his teammates were constantly being shit on? that goes for link too to an extent, but link hasn't ever been vocal with the fans and he had zero public cache. if link came out and told fans to chill regarding xmithie, he'd get buried. DL? not so much.

Pretty much the entire sub making jokes at his expense since it happened as well as someone posting this as a reason to replace him with Stixxxay very recently until he got called out on it and it was deleted.

yeah, uhhh, exactly. DL makes a mistake, the sub jokes and anyone with serious criticism has to delete their post. xmithie or link make a mistake, everyone is out for blood.

The perfect equaliser DL circle-jerk happened, DL received plenty of crap for that. And even though it makes no difference after Link self ult. even if DL did not do that there was no way he had the damage to kill Sion with how tanky he was then, before the rest of his team were cleaned up.

First off, DL was called out a lot for those plays against TSM. Second, DL has changed his style - if you look at the general critique thrown at him in the past, much of that doesn't apply anymore. He used to get a lot of flak for only playing super carries, and from the attention he got from the team in terms of farm, comp and so on. He has actually improved on those fronts, no one can deny that. So regardless of if he cares, he has made a change.

I agree that DL has a special status within this community, but it isn't as extreme as you make it out to be

I would agree that he changed his play style, particularly this past split, but I would also agree with Link that after they lost to TSM much of that change started to regress. that was the problem with CLG this split. they had a new idea of how to play the game, but when push came to shove it became clear they had no faith in each other to see it through.

People talk shit about doublelift all the time. Xmithe doesn't do as many good plays for CLG so he gets less slack. Doublelift does more good plays for CLG so he gets more slack.

Aphromoo played horrible in the playoffs but its not even mentioned. Why? Because when you've been doing great for a while you're allowed a fuck up.

I actually kind of agree with this, he always does a statement like "yeah I fucked up lol I'm terrible I'm fixing this next time" then makes the mistake again and makes the same statement again.

I know lot of people with big egos (shit I'm one of them) and some of the easiest ways to get people off your back is to just be the first to criticize yourself so you can be like "hey I admitted my fault already, leave me alone". But that means nothing if you don't actually fix it.

Admitting mistakes first after you're publicly confronted by them is not really helping though. Either he improves in a team environment, or stay true to his colors.

Which is more than Link has done. Say what you want but DL is at least willing to say yea i fucked up, while Link's letter is "It's everyone else's fault but mine. DL was mean, coaches didn't do enough, teammates didn't ply correctly. Me? I tried too hard and failed :(."

all his "mistake" admissions have been along the lines of "MAYBE IM NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO CARRY ANYMOAR", as in he isnt actually admitting his mistakes he is humble bragging the fact he is deserves better.
