Agreed. It's too bad HTTP is being eradicated across the internet to be replaced with HTTPS which requires a security certificate. Not that one can't use one of the many blog sites. It's just a shame people won't be able to write web pages without the blessings of the gate keepers.

With all due respect, I think you guys are overplaying how difficult it is to get an HTTPS certificate. Thousands of people are doing it on a dailly basis, and in some cases it happens within a few minutes to an hour. You can still do it, and you can still put whatever you want on your website.

I'm not trying to squash discussion and I could be wrong here, but it seems like you guys are giving up on starting your own blogs when you don't have to.

I made a website a few years ago and didn't need to do any of that.

It took like 5 minutes and cost me $10 for the year with godaddy. There was no https loopholes to jump through, and my site was easily findable on google. I'm having a hard time figuring out what you guys are trying to explain here. I'm pretty sure you can still make a website with https security, and put whatever you want on it.

I use an ad blocker extension that I have heavily modified myself in chrome. But most browsers will have some kind of basic ad blocker that you can use that will get most stuff. I haven't seen an ad playing before a youtube video in a LONG time!

you can make your own if you want... simply track which annoying ad has what website linked and simply block that domain with any blocklist app...

I never experienced lag in normal browsing btw.
