People who want to perform a different gender identity while fully grasping that they are actually men or women, I understand. However, people who believe that they are born in the wrong body are delusional. Accommodating them merely indulges their delusion and promotes their illness. Granting them protection under Title IX is not only absurd, it's mendacious and enabling.

The only reason transgenderism is not considered a mental illness is because of political correctness. It's no different than body integrity identity disorder. Any logical psychiatrist agrees with this but you can't say it because it is career suicide.

Eh, really wouldn't say that it is the same kind of mental illness like body integrity identity disorder. No one is amputating a healthy limb, they are occasionally altering their genetalia or getting implants. They would almost always use the clothing of the gender that fits their mind unless fear of reprisal outweighs desire to perform None of these things are particularly controversial considering circumsion and plastic surgery. Also, not really related because body integretity disorder has little to do with gender performance and chromosomal sex. Trying to conform to the gender you feel you fit best in is not the same as feeling a limb is or isn't yours, so I don't feel that necessarily suggests the two feelings (gender, limb attachment) have the same mechanism.

I understand that being trans is genetic, and that those who suffer from gender dysphoria are victims of circumstance. However, we can't just claim that it's something that's completely normal and healthy. By its very nature, gender dysphoria will cause whoever suffers from it a hell of a lot of pain, no matter how accepting society gets.

There are both medical and psychological causes for gender identity disorders. It doesn't sound like a fun way to live - especially at high school age.

That doesn't mean that the girls want an unwanted wiener hanging around in the locker room, either. On the other hand, a teen suffering from a gender identity disorder would be uncomfortable in either locker room, and the teenage boys wouldn't want the kid in their locker room, either.

There's not always an easy answer to a complicated problem.

I had 2500 kids in my highschool and none of them insisted on their own special bathroom.

How exactly have I 'fucked up society'? My commentary on the topic is 'idiotic'? I have sympathy for people suffering from various gender identity disorders, and that caused the Baltimore riots?

Where did you read that being trans is genetic? To my knowledge, gender is a social construct, hence identifying as transgender could not be genetic.
