How dare a white man dressed in a suit talks on a video, that is one of my many TRIGGERS.

I went to a house show a while back and they had tons of zines with information and fun stuff being given out. I walked up and grabbed one of each.

One of them was "understand good consent" and I literally thought it was a joke with how it was made. It was two cartoon characters on the front fishing. I even asked if it was a real pamphlet, and the guy said "absolutely".

Now I understand that there are lots of social and health activists at house shows. But I wasn't really prepared for a "how not to rape someone" paper to be handed out and treated seriously.

I don't think it's a lack of information about sexual assault but just a lack of caring. I was very surprised, and I've heard blips and seen small things like this since then and my brother had to go to a sexual harassment seminar the other day at college basically saying this. No means no, don't rape people.

Just what the fuck.

My school made us do a sexual awareness course or we couldn't register again for classes. It had questions ranging from talking to females and bothering them to even looking at them and being a "stalker" for doing so.. A lot of this satire holds very true and I honestly think people took the cat call video in new york a little too close to heart, jesus fuck we're all adults. And for one thing, as a man who has never been complimented or deeply looked at, I envy that bitch who made it such a problem to whistle or meow at women wearing promiscuous clothing, if you're annoyed with how people act out at you, maybe its because of something you're doing too.. Like Medusa could walk by and no one would bat an eye, but show a little skin and everyone looses their minds!

Shrug. We had a course during freshman orientaiton that went over the victimization of both men and women, resources at the school, and an overview of the state's law's concerning consent. About as apolitical as you could get.

My school didn't have a male mentioning of anything, it was literally just littered with one-sided objections to feminine issues, not that it's not important, it's just kind of sad that we as adults are having to act like children over silly issues that should be obvious.

I'm 100% in support of gender equality and being aware and conscientious of the female experience.

But the rhetoric that I see employed against men is very much the same that you see employed against black people. Where blacks are assumed to be a threat, and are expected to sort "themselves" out first. I get the sense that Universities will bend over backwards to make their students feel safe (not a bad thing), and in doing so they willingly take on a rhetoric that naive young feminists like to latch onto. One that is not all that honed and a bit too steeped with misandry and hysteria.

I'm reminded of a comedy set by Patrice O'neal where he said black people would be on white people's side in relation to Obama (during the first term) if it wasn't for white people (a vocal minority) making things racial. I see it that a lot of budding feminists make it too much about dismantling the male instead of cultivating support of individualised needs of people who happen to have the female experience. An experience which also includes years of FUD and false statistics. Not that all of this doesn't go the other way, just institutions will placate bad rhetoric for the sake of a marginalized group. Which in the long run hurts that mass support needed for the movement and suppresses the rationalism that is needed to address many of the problems.

Attacking rather than defending, this makes sense when the threat of hostility is so much greater when considering the minority as but a mere percentage of the larger whole.. So true.

I'm glad I went to college before this privilege crap. The worst we had was the tunnel of oppression which we all laughed about.

The guy that made this video is a jerk, as ridiculously good-looking as he might be.....a jerk.

Feminists have no sense of humor. If they did they wouldn't be going after satire.
